Albariño produces Spain’s best white wines—fresh, lively bottlings that pair especially well with seafood. And Bodegas Martín Códax Rias Baixas shows how good the Albariño grape really is. The new 2016 vintage has just arrived and it has already won a Gold Medal—this time in the gourmet Cinve 2017—and it pairs perfectly with our prime shellfish, lobster and crab!
Season after season its delicious wines win accolades from Jancis Robinson, Robert Parker Jr, Wine Spectator et al, and our Club Tasting Panel and Members love it.
Founded in 1986 in the Rias Baixas region of North-West Spain, Martin Códax produces excellent wine from the aromatic Albariño grape. Similar to Viognier, the light and refreshing style, with a hint of sweetness provides a refreshing alternative to Chardonnay. The wine has delicate, peachy aromas with hints of spice, herbs and traces of sweet fruits, a fresh and crisp palate rounded by hints of honey, peach and stone fruits, medium-bodied, with a floral finish. It is a perfect white to pair with lobster, crab, scallops and sea bass.
