This is another unmissable vintage from Château Larose Perganson. The vineyards march with those of the illustrious Château Latour—and it shows. The gorgeous 2019 vintage won the Gold Medal in the highly respected Bettane & Desseauve Prix Plaisir—and it has been acclaimed by the connoisseurs. The wine is deep ruby red in the glass with alluring aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant and subtle notes of spice and graphite. The palate is full-bodied and structured with silky, ripe tannins and a lingering finish. It’s a superb wine—and particularly at the Club price!
All in all, Larose Perganson winemaker Frank Bijon is producing a Cru Bourgeois wine in the Haut-Médoc, on the borders of both Pauillac and St-Julien, which rivals the Classed Growths of the Médoc. In fact he produces consistently award-winning wines at a fraction of the price of his illustrious neighbours.
The 2019 is drinking beautifully now, it will cellar until 2030—and our Club Tasting Panel recommend it highly. 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 52% Merlot.

From the Chateau:
The vintage: ‘2019 will be remembered as a winemaker’s vintage, where vigilance in the vines and berry tastings were the keys to success. At the end of the day, we have come out of this campaign with a harvest of great quality, and notably Cabernet Sauvignons with skins that melted in the mouth, leaving flavour with no trace of bitterness. A rare occurrence!
As for volumes, we will content ourselves with what we have, as others of our fellow winemakers have far more reasons to lament the effects of nature during this 2019 vintage.
Tasting notes: A dark ruby red wine that expresses aromas of wild strawberries and redcurrant punctuated with subtle notes of menthol. Its voluptuous, enveloping texture is reminiscent of blends in which Merlot predominates. An effect achieved through Cabernet Sauvignons at full maturity associated with ripe, but not overripe, Merlots creating a sense of opulence and smoothness in the mouth. The structure is beautifully soft, caressing the mouth with perfectly integrated tannins that melt on the finish to leave centre stage to exquisite red fruit once more. A wine of pure pleasure!
