To the Lanesborough Grill, where we can lunch, dine and toast the occasion with complimentary Champagne in one of London’s most beautiful dining rooms: enjoy rising star Executive Chef Shay Cooper’s delicious style of Great British cooking: don’t miss this!

To step into the Lanesborough Grill’s Regency dining room is to open an occasion in style. One of the most beautiful dining rooms in London, the scene which greets you is one of classic elegance with a touch of grandeur. This, after all, is the celebrated five star Lanesborough Hotel overlooking London’s Hyde Park Corner, a landmark in the capital and one of the Great Hotels of the World.

It’s a short step from the elegant entrance—a cream-coloured Neoclassical structure built as the 2nd Viscount Lanesborough’s private London home—with its top-hatted doorman, through the richly furnished foyer, into the welcome glow of the Lanesborough Grill. It’s the perfect entrance. A soaring domed glass ceiling fills the room with daylight, and as evening falls the bright glow is shed instead from a glittering chandelier and gleaming wall lights.
With its ornate cornicing, pillars and blue and white colour scheme, this is pure Regency in style, with an airy ambience. Comfortable armchairs set at widely spaced tables invite a long and leisured lunch or dinner. The scene is one of glamour and sophistication, set for the skills of a Great British chef. Enter the celebrated Shay Cooper, one of England’s ultra-talented chefs with a Michelin Star pedigree, an acclaimed light touch which echoes the ambience of the Grill, and a straightforward menu brimming with dishes we would all rather enjoy.
Shay Cooper gained The Goring and The Bingham their first Michelin Stars and reopened the iconic Notting Hill restaurant Julie’s to great acclaim. His food is delicious: he wins accolades for his subtly refined take on traditional British cooking and champions regional artisanal food, bringing the finest seasonal produce from around the country and cooking it beautifully.
Menus change often, underpinned by favourite signature dishes such as starters of Coronation crab, Orkney scallops and Hereford beef tartare; mains of beef Wellington, Dover sole and roast turbot on the bone; and among the puddings, lemon cream tart and millionaire’s shortbread. Creativity is not reserved for the à la carte alone. The Lanesborough Grill is the place to enjoy Sunday lunch—which will likely feature à la carte signature dishes as well as Sunday roast sirloin of Hereford beef and Rhug Estate lamb with a panoply of delicious starters and puddings. And, wonderful to see—they and other dishes may well be served table side from that bastion of fine restaurant showpiece style, the guéridon trolley.
As to the Set Menu (three courses £49.50), if we were to lunch or dine today we would see starters such as potted salmon and smoked cod’s roe, or celeriac and cider soup and Westcombe Cheddar parcels, or chicken and smoked pork terrine with cider and grain mustard jelly. Mains of Cornish cod with cucumber, dill, horseradish and oyster, potato gnocchi with cauliflower mushroom, chestnut, truffle and madeira, and Suffolk pork with wood roast beetroot, apple and black pudding tart. To follow, delightful Muscovado and thyme pudding with granny smith apple and praline ice cream; Guanaja chocolate decadence, honey, speculoos ice cream; and Chestnut and coffee tart with granola, and milk ice cream. And tomorrow, a change of menu. Shay Cooper aims to serve the best British produce on whatever day you arrive at the Lanesborough Grill to lunch or dine.
Tempted? We think so—and to add to the pleasures the wine list is excellent and extensive, and includes well chosen selections of French, New World and English wines by the glass as well as by the bottle.
So we are delighted to say that this dining experience in one of London’s most beautifully civilised dining rooms has a special invitation for our Members and their guests who, when lunching or dining on three courses from any menu will enjoy a complimentary glass of Champagne to toast the occasion in style.
The Lanesborough Grill is a perfect setting in which to entertain your most discerning guests, and its elegant style and excellent location overlooking Hyde Park Corner—with Buckingham Palace and Knightsbridge both in easy strolling distance—add to making this a destination restaurant to savour.
