Cave de Hunawihr Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker is a highly aromatic and refined wine crafted with great care and precision. With its pale yellow colour and fresh, fruity aroma, this wine is a refreshing delight for the senses. The palate is complex and refined with flavours of lime, peach, white flowers and a subtle mineral finish which will see it age well.
The grapes used to make this wine come from the prestigious Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker vineyard on the eastern slopes of the Vosges Mountains and benefits from a unique microclimate that produces exceptional wines.
Decanter notes: ‘Cave de Hunawihr, Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker, Alsace, France , 91/100 (2022): ‘The small cooperative Cave de Hunawihr, established in 1956, owns almost half of the prime Rosacker vineyard, which lies between Ribeauville and Riquewihr.
‘Officially medium dry, Cave de Hunawihr Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker is juicy with firm stone fruit fragrance and flavours, florality and a lime citrus twist. There’s also a minerality at its core that will see it age well for another five years at least.’

Hunawihr Winery:
Set up in 1954, the Hunawihr Winery is a place where you can taste some of the best and most elegant French wines. This is a cooperative winery located in the scenic Alsace region of France. As per latest data, close to 110 members belong to this cooperative winery. It owns 200 vineyards, out of which 80% is cultivated in the Hunawihr region and the remaining vineyards can be found in the neighbouring locations of Riquewihr and Zellenberg.
Though there are many types of wines crafted in this winery, the Grand Crus deserve a special mention. They are made from the best of the grapes cultivated on 13 hectares spread across Rosacker, Froehn, Sporen, Schoenenbourg and Osterberg.
Out of the 26 hectares found in Rosacker, the Hunawihr cooperative owns close to 11 of them. Riesling, the white wine varietal is grown on most of these 11 hectares. Due to the soil quality, natural climatic conditions and the great terroir, the white wines produced are absolutely remarkable. Hence it is no surprise that the Grand Cru Riesling Rosacker is the most significant wine crafted here. The vineyards located in the Alsace region enjoy the dry climate that is mostly found in the semi-continental areas. This helps the grapes to ripen naturally with their full flavours.
The region of Rosacker is blessed with excellent soil quality. The clay & limestone content of this soil plays a huge role in making the grapes dry, flavourful and fresh at the same time. You will notice a visible uniqueness in the Gran Cru Riesling wine made from the grapes grown in the Rosacker region, for this very reason.
