Greywacke is the exciting solo venture of Kevin Judd, chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 vintages and instrumental in the international recognition New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc enjoys today. His Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc is fabulous, and his late harvested Riesling is delicious too—an elegant change from Sauternes.
A wine of intense aromatics, the exotic honeysuckle blossom, candied lemon and vanilla custard flavours are infused with a hint of cloves. The luscious palate has a marmalade-like combination of lemons and limes mingled with the richness of honeyed apricots and crème caramel. Silky, succulent and harmonious, freshening acidity gives a keen edge in the finish.
Perfect with foie gras, with spicy foods and with puddings.
