Alpha Zeta Terrapieno Pinot Grigio 2025: hidden gem from the Veneto: the exceptional vineyard Matt Thomson chose to bottle on its own: case of six bottles delivered

Original price was: £96.00.Current price is: £79.00.

This wine is a hidden gem. Winemaker Matt Thomson was so impressed by the quality and character of the Pinot Grigio from this particular site that, rather than lose it in a blend, he chose to vinify and bottle it separately. Alpha Zeta Terrapieno was the result.

The nine-hectare vineyard lies at 250–300 metres in the Valpantena Valley, where poor, well-drained soils and cooling elevation help give the fruit concentration while retaining freshness. The 2025 vintage was particularly kind: warm summer conditions brought the grapes to excellent ripeness, while cooler nights preserved acidity and aromatic character.

And that shows in the glass. Terrapieno 2025 is bright, fresh and generous, with ripe fruit, a lovely silky texture and enough concentration to make it genuinely interesting at the table.

This is an immensely likeable Italian white – the sort of wine to keep in the fridge, put on the table and buy by the case.
