The prestigious Platinum Medal winner Domaine Changarnier Monthelie 1er Cru `Meix Bataille` 2022 is from an historic domaine founded by the Changarnier family in 1720, 69 years before the French Revolution and is still owned by the family.

The Decanter judges note: ‘Exquisite cherry blossom and summer berry fruit energy with a sultry tone of incense and fine spice swaddled in a gloss of fine tannin and crunchy texture. Well-defined, a pervading acid backbone and a long finish.’

Neal Martin (Vinous) notes: ‘The 2022 Monthélie Meix-Bataille 1er Cru comes from a plot just outside the village on deep soils. This has an intense, licorice-scented bouquet that takes no prisoners: gutsy and powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with a Pommard-like fruit profile. Pliant tannins are not obtrusive but cohesive with black pepper on the finish. A gutsy wine that should age well in bottle.’
