This new jacket in pure Donegal lambswool tweed is extremely smart—and through the Club it is a snip. A handsome jacket in shades of grey and blue which mirror the colours of an Irish lough, it is well made and extremely well cut.

A good warm medium weight, smooth to the touch, comfortable to wear, it is also versatile—it looks good in town as well as country, dressed up with collar and tie and wool trousers for smart occasions or with open-neck shirts and tee-shirts and cords or chinos for casual days. It goes with so many colours—from fawn to black, reds, ochres, rusts and greys—and will be a versatile and highly useful addition to a gentleman’s wardrobe. It is also contemporary in style whilst being an authentic piece of Irish tweed history.

Still woven in Donegal, the pure lambswool tweed is part of an unbroken tradition in Ireland going back to 1866, when our Irish tailors Magee founded their tweed business. The finished tweed is not only handsome, it is practical, as the 420g (15oz) cloth keeps you warm and the texture feels comfortable from the first time you wear it—it is soft and smooth, not at all ‘hairy’—and it just looks better and better as time goes on.

The finished jacket is beautifully tailored and hand finished—hand sewing in areas including the lapels and lining improves the way a jacket hangs—and it is cut in a flattering two-button style, with two side vents. The jacket is lined in purple satin, and has four inside pockets, together with a signed label to guarantee it as authentic Donegal tweed. This is a jacket you will wear often, and really enjoy.
