Neal Martin (Vinous) notes, ‘The Vocorets are really making splendid wines… the 2020 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot is very succinct on the nose, gently unfolding to offer scents of lemon verbena, crushed stone and just a touch of dandelion.’ He scores it 89-91 points (of 100).

Eleni and Edouard are one of the few ‘modern classic’ producers choosing to use old barrels and produce Chablis is the softer, fuller style. The domain is all about balance and finesse and this wine has minerality typical of Chablis, with a weight and complexity found only in the region’s best wines.The celebrated Chablis producer Vincent Dauvissat is a mentor and a source of inspiration for Edouard and Eleni, who have a passion for their wine and a demanding work ethic—immediately converting the vineyards to organic, hand harvesting, and creating their wines with no manipulation in the cellar. The result is an excellent Chablis.

The Tasting Panel loved the beautifully perfumed bouquet, which is so aromatic, lively and perfumed with touches of honeysuckle, lime and verbena. The palate has weight Boucheran and  focus, giving a really complete wine that will age well. Textured and mouth-filling, this lovely wine has depth, intense and with an astoundingly long finish. It is a gorgeous wine to enjoy alone and with food, excelling with fish and shellfish. Drink 2024 to 2032.
