Crafted from a luxurious premium pure wool, this new jacket from English tailors Gurteen 1784 is a handsome addition to a man’s new season style. Renowned for classic tailoring with a contemporary touch, this debonair design is no exception. This is today’s tweed jacket with heritage. Soft, comfortable and smart, it has the hallmarks of a classic in details such as matching overchecks.
The herringbone pattern, one of the simplest yet most popular modern twills, mimics the skeleton of the fish to create a rich, textured look. Here it is, beautifully tailored in rich browns with a hint of green and burgundy overcheck. It is extremely versatile, looking good with navy, browns, reds and greens, over everything from a plain shirt in town to a check shirt and a country look, with a smart doeskin waistcoat or jumper, and it looks great with chinos, cavalry twills—or blue jeans for a contemporary look.
Gurteen’s history as English tailors began in 1784. No surprise then that this fine jacket carries tailoring details which mark it out: such as the smart little ticket pocket, flapped and jetted, above the two front flapped pockets. Then there is the all-important matching checks and final hand stitching.
The jacket is in medium weight wool and the silky lining is a smart wine with three interior pockets, one buttoned for security.

About Gurteen 1784:
Gurteen is an English family run tailoring business established in Haverhill, Suffolk, in 1784, where it is still situated today. The company started life making smocks which was the general garment at that time and as the years moved on, so too did the clothing. From making Army uniforms during World War One and World War Two, to measuring up and making the suits for the English Rugby team, the company has always met a challenge. The business is still retained and managed by family members, and the passion for men’s tailoring burns as fiercely today as it did back in 1784.
