The South Sea golden pearl is naturally coloured by its formation in the gold-lipped oyster. Pearl specialists appreciate them because, apart from the enchanting natural colour, the nacre of South Sea pearls is unusually thick, ranging from 2-6mm, compared to the 0.35-0.7mm of the Japanese akoya pearl—hence their exceptional size and lustre.

The pearl for the travelling necklace is exceptionally large at almost 13mm, and it hangs beautifully from a 14ct gold chain. All the pearls have a lovely golden hue and small ‘birth marks’ to denote their origins as living gems.
