A girl should be two things,’ said Coco Chanel, ‘classy and fabulous’. This new capsule collection for 2013/14 from the fashion label Ochre Cashmere is both. All three pieces are beautiful. In high-quality pure cashmere, they embody timeless elegance and a fashionable sense of restraint along with the current trend for all things ecru—and they work together to create different angles on the theme.
This translates into beautifully full cut and draping status pieces in the softest top-quality two-ply cashmere: a sleeveless round-neck with capped sleeves and stepped hem; an edge-to-edge jacket with a roll back collar and batwing sleeves; and a poncho with asymmetric sleeve and hem. The focus is on considered design and purity, a modern and austere vision in a monochrome of creamy latte and natural colours.
The silhouette is one of relaxed sensitivity while using high-quality fabrics. Long and deep, generous and full cut, these are perfect pieces for travelling—by train, plane or automobile—for late nights or early mornings and everything inbetween, they are simply, unutterably, deliciously indispensible.
There is something special about Oche Cashmere, and not only due to their understated fashion style and the high quality of their cashmere. An English company, and a hands-on family business, they are rooted in Kathmandu, Nepal, where they work with the local women who hand-make their designs. Their focus, beyond the most gloriously elegant fashion, is in helping the Nepalese—known so well to us in the UK as the Ghurka Regiments of the British Army. This wonderful company employs 90 women from the villages of the Kathmandu Valley. On the back of their success as a fashion label they founded the charity, the Human Touch Fund, a voluntary organisation helping children and their parents in Nepal, focusing on education and health.
