New wine pairings for gourmet seafood: Mixed Tasting Case of 12 bottles, 2 bottles of each wine: sold out

To enjoy this delicious seafood to the full, the Club Wine Tasting Panel have selected six new wine pairings to match the flavours of the Connoisseur Wild Fish and Shellfish Collection. Their choices—two different wines for each of the Argentinian Scarlets, the Devonshire Scallops and the Sashimi Grade Tuna Loin—will of course go with many different seafoods. With the above Connoisseur Collection, they are considered the perfect match.

Devonshire King Scallops in the Half Shell:
Château de Landiras Blanc 2015 (France)
A white Bordeaux for all who love the classics. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with fresh acidity which is perfect with the Scallops. Commended in the
Decanter World Wine Awards, this wine has freshness, wonderful balance and clean, precise aromas on the palate with a mineral finish. A well-crafted Graves.

Coviar Albariño, Paco & Lola 2017 (Spain)
For a second choice: Coviar is the best Albariño we’ve tried at this price. Made by the brilliant Paco & Lola with grapes grown in the Salnés Valley, it is mouthwateringly delicious, crisp and full of flavour. If you’re looking for a delicious Albariño without breaking the bank, this is it.

Wild Argentinian Scarlet Prawns:
Gavi Di Gavi Bobo (Orange) 2017 La Scolca (Italy)
One of Italy’s most recognisable Gavi’s, it’s not just a brand but a serious wine drinker’s wine, full of gorgeous flavours. The vines are 20-30 years old, giving power and concentration seldom seen in the region. Fresh and fruity, with the characteristic lemon and lime flavours, it is a perfect match for these wild prawns with their langoustine flavour and texture.

Costers del Sios, Petit Sios Blanc 2017 (Spain)
A beautifully succulent, yet fresh and mineral white blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Muscat, from fruit grown in the dry, rugged and hilly Catalan region of Costers del Segre. This is a delightful wine, rounded, and a perfect match for the prawns, particularly when you serve them with a spiced sauce—and that goes for a Thai white fish curry too!

Yellowfin Tuna Loin, Sashimi Grade:
Bourgogne Blanc ‘Les Femelottes’ 2017, Domaine Chavy Chouet (France)
This is perhaps our best value wine. All the fruit comes from a single vineyard parcel ‘Les Femelottes’, in the village of Puligny. Another 300 metres to the south-east and this bottle would easily cost £30-£35 a bottle. It is bursting with ripe citrus and stone fruit, with enough body and backbone to stand up to tuna sashimi. Decanter Silver Medal winner.

Jackhammer Pinot Noir 2016 (USA)
A great Californian Pinot Noir at an affordable price, this really is a top notch wine. Succulent and fresh red berry fruit with earthy, savoury notes, it is complex with good acidity and a long, smoky finish. It is perfection with the tuna sashimi and the strong flavours of its accompaniments—and of course wonderful with duck too.
