A genuine covert coat still cuts a dash, and this is the proper job, tailored by old established tailors Gurteen from pure wool worsted. It looks good and will probably last for ever.

The covert coat started life in racing circles, swiftly moving from stables to trainers and owners, thence to the smartest racecourse enclosures and the City. A distinctive feature of the proper covert coat is the rows of stitching, or ‘tramlines’, around the hem and sleeves (traditionally so it could be cut to fit a shorter wearer with a pair of shears).

Our handsome coat is beautifully tailored in the traditional wool worsted, so hard wearing that these coats were worn out hunting in all weathers, which of course gave the coat its name. Time-honoured features include ticket pocket, three-button fly fastening, flapped waist pockets, centre back vent and satin lining. The collar is of course trimmed with velvet.
