Ardbeg is considered the finest single malt whisky in the world. When connoisseur Jim Murray named the 10 Years Old his Whisky of The Year he wrote, ‘Unquestionably the greatest distillery to be found on Earth; if perfection on the palate exists, this is it’. Expert Michael Jackson agreed: ‘It’s the earthiness of Ardbeg, the gusts of peat smoke, leafy bonfires and tar that make it the most traditional of island whiskies.’
Ardbeg is distilled on the south-eastern shore of Islay. It has a rich history as well as flavour, being one of the original ‘moonshine’ distillers’ dens of the 18th century. The original delicious peaty, smoky flavour is at the heart of it still: Ardbeg 10 Years Old is intensely smoky yet elegant. It has power, grace and complexity, with a lovely long finish. Typically, most whiskies are chill-filtered and reduced to a strength of 40%. The Ardberg 10 Years Old is non-chill-filtered and has a strength of 46%, retaining maximum flavour. It won the Gold Medal at the IWSC Awards, among many others.
