With more than 25 years as the man behind Cloudy Bay, Kevin Judd was key to the global renown of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Today his Greywacke wines are standard bearers in their own right.

It is no surprise that Greywacke is so good: Judd left Cloudy Bay to launch Greywacke in his own style—and this 2024 vintage is excellent, awarded high marks by the critics, Decanter noting: ‘‘Aromatic and evocative, bursting with pink grapefruit, tropical fruits, elderflower, lemongrass and snow pea, with a creamy lees undertow and flashes of herbal/mineral notes. A rich palate generous in tropical fruit and citrussy acid drive, which tightens up to a nicely crisply saline, long dry finish.’ 95 Points, Emma Jenkins MW, Decanter.

You will love this wine, as do the critics and buyers—each vintage is a sell-out. Delicious on its own, it enhances many foods, its intense flavours tasting beautifully with everything from smoked salmon and asparagus to grilled trout, halibut and game fish, excellent with crab and anchovies. It is a fine accompaniment to goat’s cheese and salads and makes a great choice to serve with canapés and a delight alone or with any summer lunch or dinner. Drinking window, from now until 2029.
