Traditional handmade double-knotted large Persian Bidjar rug: a superb deal at £3,795

The Club’s Persian carpet specialist has just delivered our new large Bidjar rug, one of ‘the Iron Rugs of Persia’, original, authentic, high quality and very beautiful. For these reasons, and because the colour palette is so rich, harmonious and jewel-toned, Bidjar rugs are the classics for country houses and designer interiors. Trade sanctions with Iran mean that the carpets must already be in the UK in order to sell them—thus they are in increasingly short supply, and prices continue to rise.

This large, traditional handmade Bidjar rug (306cm x 202cm, just under 10ft long by 6ft 6in) is made by a single weaver using lustrous local wool, hand woven on cotton warps. It is double-knotted, 250 KPSI (the higher the number, the better the quality) and this rug is therefore classed as high quality. It has a traditional colour palette and a classic Bidjar pattern.

It measures 306cm x 202cm (just under 10ft long by 6ft 6in). Strips along the long edges prevent curling. It is more than 30 years old, unused, and very beautiful.
