The classic canvas and leather shotgun motorcase: Double Shotgun Motor Case, the Bowland

The shotgun motorcase is a piece of shooting tradition. It was invented last century to transport prized shotguns to and from the shoot by motor car—and it has been relied on for generations since to do so safely and stylishly, while taking up less space than a traditional guncase. Little has changed—the time-honoured motorcase design is still both practical and impressive. And now, in the rarefied gunrooms and salerooms of St James’s this stylish piece of kit is likely to set you back a four-figure sum.

As the Club exists to find top-notch kit at less eyewatering prices, we were delighted to find this traditional shotgun motorcase in canvas and leather, which has a particularly smart vintage appearance, looking both expensive and understated. It will add just the right amount of gravitas to your arrival at the shoot this season—and with its snug, tailor-made compartments lined with the customary soft green baize, it will keep your guns secure and well protected.

The motorcase saves space by storing the barrel and stock separately, with an ingenious hidden compartment for accessories. The case is covered in heavyweight waterproof laminated canvas fabric with tan leather detailing and reinforcements, including handle and double straps, plus brass snap closures and three-digit combination locks. It is well built and sturdy enough to give extremely useful service for years to come.

There are two sizes, the single-gun Carlton and, here, the double-gun Bowland. Both are for either side-by-side or over-and-under shotguns with barrel lengths up to 30in.
