Exclusive CountryClubuk Private Salmon Fishing & Sporting House Party at wonderful Amhuinnsuidhe Castle on the Isle of Harris: the dates, July 16-23, 2021: fully booked and successful event completed: watch out for new dates

You are invited to join the eagerly awaited CountryClubuk Salmon Fishing & Sporting House Party in the splendour of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle, on the Isle of Harris, for the prime week of July 16 to July 23, 2021. Set in the magnificent mountains of the 55,000-acre North Harris estate in the Outer Hebrides, this is one of the most famous salmon and sea trout fisheries in the world, as well as being a luxurious residence in which CountryClubuk Members stay as if it were their own private castle, being wined, dined and pampered. This is a wonderful, unmissable trip for flyfishers and non-fishers alike.

OUR PRIVATE CASTLE FOR THIS PRIME JULY WEEK: TOTAL LUXURY, WINING, DINING AND WORLD-FAMOUS FISHING.

The estate’s fishing logbooks read like a flyfishers’ Who’s Who as flyfishing, loch-style, from a boat rowed by a professional ghillie is the cream of sport. The waters comprise nine lochs connected by short rivers to the sea, and the salmon and sea trout at the middle to end of July are superb. The fishing suits experts and beginners, and access is easy. You are driven to some lochs by your ghillie, where a boat is waiting; others, such as the legendary Ulladale, are for the adventurous and fit. All in all, the quality of the sea trout and salmon fishing on the Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate is unsurpassed—and this will be a marvellous time of year to be on this spectacularly beautiful island. To watch the salmon gather in the sea in front of the Castle, the red deer on the hill and golden eagles in the sky, is breathtaking—this is one of Europe’s last unspoilt wildernesses.

THE CREAM OF SPORT: LOCH FISHING FOR WILD ATLANTIC SALMON FROM A BOAT ON AMHUINNSUIDHE ESTATE ON THE ISLE OF HARRIS.

Amhuinnsuidhe Castle is a splendid baronial home, built in 1865 for the 7th Earl of Dunmore, a member of Disraeli’s government and a high-level diplomat. Among his successors were Sir Samuel Scott and his wife Lady Sophie, daughter of the Earl Cadogan, a society beauty, socialite and sportswoman whose sporting house parties were legendary—a large steamer was commissioned to bring guests and supplies to the island for the season.

A SPORTING PARADISE AWAITS US, RECREATING THE LEGENDARY SPORTING HOUSE PARTIES OF OLD: FOUR GHILLIES WILL BE AT OUR SERVICE.

The estate is in every way a sporting paradise to this day, and our house party will make the most of this majestic scene: deer stalking adds to the highlights, as does the bird watching (golden eagles nest here), and there are dramatic landscapes, magnificent walks, stunningly beautiful beaches (Luskentyre is considered the finest beach in Scotland) and picturesque villages, historic churches and castles, archaeological sites, craft shops, galleries and local industries to explore—including the making of the famous Harris tweed and, on nearby Lewis, linked to Harris by land, the Abhainn Dearg Single Malt Whisky Distillery.

AMONG THE DRAMATIC SIGHTS AND SCENES, SCOTLAND’S FINEST BEACH, LUSKENTYRE, AWAITS: HARRIS IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S TOP ISLANDS.

Bring your golf clubs as well as your rods, rifles and dogs—the nine-hole golf course at Scarista, about 35 minutes’ drive from Amhuinnsuidhe Castle, was named by Nick Faldo ‘one of the most beautiful places in the world to play golf’.

THIS WILL BE OUR BARONIAL CASTLE SETTING, WITH ITS SUMPTUOUS INTERIORS CREATED IN 1865 FOR THE 7TH EARL OF DUNMORE.

Our party will have private use of the Castle in its entirety, enjoying the life of the laird, staying for seven nights (Friday, July 16 to Friday, July 23, 2021) and including: exclusive use of the world-famous salmon and sea trout lochs; full Scottish breakfasts; delicious picnic lunches and afternoon teas; splendid four-course dinners including the finest local seafood and game, all prepared by the Castle chef; teas and coffees; the services of the estate’s four ghillies; and airport transfers. Travel to the island, drinks and tips, stalking, golf and excursions are not included in the price, but flights and transfers can easily be arranged through the CountryClubuk Travel Desk. There are regular scheduled flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness to nearby Stornoway. Car ferries from Uig, on the Isle of Skye, and Ullapool will take you to Harris or Lewis.

LIVING THE LIFE OF THE LAIRD: FINE PICTURES AND ANTIQUES FILL THE ELEGANT, PRIVATELY OWNED CASTLE ROOMS.

If you decide to drive north and cross to Harris by the car ferry this will make it easier for you to transport your rods, rifles, cases and dogs. If you choose to fly to Stornoway, transfers to the Castle and back will be arranged—unless you prefer to hire a car from the airport. A car will of course give you complete freedom of movement around the island—there is so much to do and to enjoy. Harris and Lewis have received the title of Europe’s ‘Number One Island’, as well as being awarded a ranking among the ‘Top Five Islands in the World’.

WILD RED DEER, A HIGHLIGHT OF AMHUINNSUIDHE CASTLE ESTATE AND A FEATURE OF THE EXHILARATING SPORT WHICH IS ON OFFER.
