Solidly weighted, our Highland Cow will sit faithfully beside a door and keep it exactly where it is wanted. But we suspect that, like the best Dora Designs characters, he may soon be promoted from useful household servant to much-loved member of the family.

There is something particularly appealing about Dora Designs’ wonderfully individual approach. Rather than simply reproducing an animal, their designers give each character a personality of its own—and this splendid Highlander certainly has that.

His richly contrasting patchwork fabrics have the reassuring look and feel of traditional country tweeds, while that magnificent tousled forelock provides just the right finishing touch. No two textures quite compete for attention; instead, they come together in the gloriously eccentric fashion that makes him look as though he has always belonged in a comfortable country home.

He would be perfectly at ease holding open the study door, standing guard in the hall or boot room, or keeping watch beside the fireside in a favourite sitting room.

And although his official occupation may be doorstop, that hardly seems to do him justice.
