The silk scarf is having a fashion moment again — although the best ones never really went away. For 2026, Vogue has singled out silk scarves for their colour, versatility and ability to transform clothes already in the wardrobe.
Fox & Chave’s Single Stem Coral makes the case beautifully. Great curling celadon and silvery-green leaves sweep between warm coral flowers, flashes of ochre-gold and a deep charcoal-brown ground. Printed on fine pure silk chiffon, the effect is graphic yet wonderfully light.
We’ve worn ours simply over pale celadon tailoring, allowing the print to do all the work. Try it equally with ivory, chocolate, camel, navy or the simplest white shirt.
The surprise? This thoroughly contemporary-looking pattern has its roots in Morris & Co. and the work of John Henry Dearle.

The silk scarf is back in conspicuous fashion circulation for 2026, appearing around necks, over shoulders, at the waist and in the hair — less a polite finishing touch than a portable piece of colour.
Single Stem Coral is particularly good at that job. Open it out and the first impression is almost painterly: extravagant pale celadon foliage curls across a dark ground, interrupted by coral-pink flowers and smaller trails of warm ochre and gold. Gather the chiffon and everything changes. Colours overlap, the dark details become richer and glimpses of coral appear between folds of pale green.
It is also remarkably accommodating. Against celadon or soft sage, as we’ve photographed it, the darker pattern comes sharply into focus. Chocolate makes the pale foliage sing; ivory and white freshen it; camel picks up the gold; navy gives the coral unexpected punch. With a plain knit, linen shirt or beautifully cut jacket, it can provide almost all the decoration required.
And then there is the provenance.
Single Stem comes from Morris & Co. and the work of John Henry Dearle, the gifted designer who became one of the firm’s most important creative figures. Its flowers include tulips, carnations and poppies, woven visually into those unmistakably Arts & Crafts scrolling leaves.
Fox & Chave’s cleverness is to translate all that decorative richness into pure silk chiffon. What might once have belonged to an interior becomes sheer, fluid and distinctly wearable.
Wear it long to enjoy the pattern, loosely looped for greater colour, or casually over one shoulder. Fashion may have rediscovered the silk scarf, but Single Stem Coral rather suggests that a great print doesn’t need rediscovering at all.
