Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne Yellow Label—and a superb Club price!

£249.00

The iconic Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne Yellow Label is rich but balanced by ripe and zingy notes of citrus. It is aged for twice the time legally required, adding complexity, which shows in biscuity and toasty flavours.

The nose provides vibrant notes of white fruits and raisins, then of vanilla and later of brioche. The first sip delivers all the freshness and forcefulness so typical of Yellow Label followed by a symphony of fruit flavours. Here is a true member of the powerful Brut family, well structured, admirably vinous.

One of the 17 Grande Marque Houses from Champagne, dating back to 1772, the House has a rich and varied history. ‘Veuve’ translates as widow and is a reference to Barbe Nicole Ponsardin, who ran the company from a very young age due to her husband’s early death.

And now the famous Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne has a new label—and a drier edge. Awarding 90/100 points, Wine Spectator’s Roger Voss notes, ‘This ever-popular Champagne is getting imperceptibly drier. There is a fresh edge to it that is new and welcome. Crisp apple fruits give the wine a lift at the end. Drink now!’ Falstaff (92/100) notes: ‘Bright yellow, silver reflections, fine, stable mousse. White peach fruit with a hint of blossom honey, mineral touch. Juicy, lively nuances of red apple, freshly structured, stimulating style.’

Lovers of this Champagne over the years will recognise the same balance of strength, aromatic intensity and freshness—they will also enjoy the unbeatable Club price!

It gains its structure from the predominant presence of Pinot Noir (50-55%), roundness from Meunier (15-20%) and elegance from Chardonnay (28-33%). Ageing on lees for a minimum of three years enhances its aromatic richness and silky texture. Often enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with seafood or white meat dishes.

Case of six 75cl bottles. Non Members £337. CCUK £249 including UK mainland delivery.
