The new Viyella shirts have just arrived in fresh autumn colours. These shirts are part of British history.
What turned out to be the perfect winter shirt-weave of 80% cotton and 20% merino wool was invented and trademarked by Viyella in 1894, the year London’s Tower Bridge opened to traffic. It is still produced because it is simply still the finest winter shirt. As soon as you wear it, you become warm, and comfortable, and this remarkable fabric just gets better with age.
Viyella was the first shirtmaker to blend fabrics—any fabrics—hence the trademark. For these ‘warm handle’ shirts they continue to use long staple cotton, blended with the best merino wool. It gives a soft fabric finish, high durability and of course warmth. Whatever the details, the Viyella shirt is made to last, and whether we are talking about yesterday, today or tomorrow, it matters. It is a shirt that says ‘British’ all the way through, and Members buy it at a special Club rate.
The shirt is made in collar sizes 15-18in (including half sizes).
White with large tattersall checks in two colours, red and navy.
RRP £105 plus delivery. CCUK £55 including UK mainland delivery.
