The new silk devore stoles from English artist Caroline Hall are truly original works of art. ‘Authentic patterns grow out of life’s experiences and joys,’ she says. ‘The challenge is to transform an idea into something that will enhance the design and complement and delight the wearer.’ This is Caroline’s philosophy as first she draws her designs, then creates her silk stoles to the final finished piece. Her inspiration is her garden in Devon, where she grows her trees and flowers and observes their patterns, light and shade, as the seasons pass.
Mimosa in her garden is the inspiration for this beautiful, original silk devore stole (left). It has leaves of such beauty, and when it can be persuaded to flower in England, puffs of flowers dangle from its silvery branches. The scent is of a southern spring. Caroline sketched her mimosa, and hand-dyed the silk devore in many colours, as her fancy took her. Here it is in vibrant red and black crepe, in silk with added viscose to create the sheer qualities of the devore. The Mimosa Stole is 140cm (4ft 7in) long and 32cm (1ft) wide, perfect to add a unique artistic accent to your style. Also in other colours. Silk and natural viscose.
