Single-breasted, two-button, with three patch pockets, tailored in pure wool, it is the correct blazer for members of sporting clubs—rowing clubs, golf clubs, yacht clubs, bowling clubs, rugby clubs, croquet clubs and more—as well as military associations. It is designed so that your club or regimental badge can be sewn on to the breast pocket, and military or club buttons added.
Traditionally cut and tailored by Magee of Donegal in high-quality pure wool, this smart blazer has excellent line and balance, with two side vents, gilt buttons and obvious craftsmanship in the making, including that telltale sign of a tailor-made, well-cut jacket, pick-stitching inside the lapel, pockets and lining to retain the clean line of the jacket over many years of wear. The smart burgundy silky lining contains four pockets including a wallet pocket (with button flap for security) and extra inside pockets for a pen, tickets and other essentials.

The critical things to get right are the three c’s—cut, construction and cloth. The resulting jacket just looks good: close to the body, slim but not tight, no sagging shoulders nor bagginess. It was Beau Brummell who worked with the English fine cloth makers and tailors of London, setting rules in suit construction which still pertain. Hand stitching is a mark of quality; around the lapels, for example, it creates the perfect ‘roll’ to ensure the lapels lie flat. The more hand stitching, the better, important even when unseen, such as in the lining. The collar needs a felt lining to stabilise its line.
