A brace of cock pheasants, at dawn, in flight, compete for territory in Michael Simpson’s new limited edition bronze—a beautiful and natural sculpture which bursts with energy and life. It is a most striking scene of anticipation and action, move and counter-move, and one which a shooting man, or any naturalist, would treasure.
Simpson is an accomplished sculptor, inspired by the Nature of his home country, the Staffordshire Potteries. He has an artist’s eye for the wildlife he sees around him, and this sculpture does the pheasants justice in every way. These are the males of their species doing what comes naturally—fighting over the right to a female harem.
It seems as if the bird beneath, its tail feathers just about to leave the flattened rushes, is the stronger and will win the contest—but this is one for the flight of human imagination, adding to the everlasting allure of this exceptional sculpture, which will give pleasure for generations to come.
The edition is limited to 150. It stands an impressive 10in (225mm) tall and will dominate its setting.
RRP £245. CCUK £198.
