The Ballet Icons Gala has long been regarded as one of the most prestigious events in the international ballet calendar, and in February 2026 it returns to the London Coliseum for a landmark 20th Anniversary celebration. Conceived on a truly global scale, this one-night ballet gala brings together many of the world’s most admired dancers for an evening that celebrates classical mastery, contemporary brilliance and the enduring power of live performance.
Taking place at the historic London Coliseum, the Ballet Icons Gala 20th Anniversary unites leading artists from the world’s great ballet companies, including The Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, La Scala Ballet, Berlin State Ballet and Dutch National Ballet. For two decades, Ballet Icons has been synonymous with excellence, and this anniversary edition promises to be among the most significant ballet events in London in 2026.
At the heart of the evening is an extraordinary assembly of artists drawn from the very pinnacle of international ballet. Among them is Natalia Osipova, principal of The Royal Ballet, whose performances are renowned for their fearless intensity and emotional power. Critics have written of her “volcanic intensity” and her remarkable ability to transform even the most familiar repertoire into something freshly charged with danger and immediacy. To see Osipova in a gala setting is to witness a dancer who brings virtuosic brilliance and raw dramatic force together in equal measure.
Alongside her appears Vadim Muntagirov, also a principal of The Royal Ballet and widely regarded as one of the finest classical male dancers of his generation. Celebrated for his purity of line, musical sensitivity and effortless elevation, Muntagirov’s dancing has been praised for its serenity and refinement, qualities that make even the most demanding roles appear quietly poetic. Together, Osipova and Muntagirov represent the very pinnacle of contemporary classical ballet.
The Royal Ballet is further represented by a distinguished group of leading artists, including Francesca Hayward, acclaimed for her lyrical expressiveness and dramatic insight, and Fumi Kaneko, admired for her elegance, pristine technique and understated musicality. Reece Clarke brings noble line and expressive strength, while Marcelino Sambé contributes dazzling virtuosity and exuberant attack. Anna Rose O’Sullivan, celebrated for her delicacy and crystalline classical style, completes a Royal Ballet presence that alone would make this anniversary gala an evening of distinction.
The international scope of the Ballet Icons Gala is equally compelling. From La Scala Ballet come Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko, a partnership admired for its dramatic intensity and polished classicism. Paris Opera Ballet is represented by Paul Marque, whose dancing has been described as refined, musical and deeply poetic. Berlin State Ballet contributes the celebrated duo of Iana Salenko and Daniil Simkin, artists renowned for their bravura technique and charismatic stage presence, while Dutch National Ballet brings a quartet of outstanding dancers including Maia Makhateli, whose expansive movement and dramatic authority have earned widespread praise.
American Ballet Theatre is represented by Catherine Hurlin and Isaac Hernández, both internationally recognised for performances that combine technical brilliance with a strong individual voice. Hernández in particular has been acclaimed for his powerful classical technique and magnetic stage presence, making his appearances outside the United States especially sought after. Completing this exceptional gathering is Edward Watson, formerly of The Royal Ballet, whose distinctive artistry and emotional intelligence have made him one of the most compelling dramatic dancers of his generation.
The programme itself has been curated to reflect the breadth and vitality of ballet today, combining classical highlights with contemporary works, world premieres and exclusive anniversary commissions. A particular highlight of the evening will be the UK premiere of Asylum, a powerful new work by award-winning choreographer Antonia Franceschi, created in collaboration with New York’s Vildwerk Foundation. Addressing environmental themes through dance, it brings a modern urgency to a gala that also celebrates the enduring beauty of classical form. As with all Ballet Icons performances, the full running order is revealed closer to the event, adding to the sense of anticipation.
Before the curtain rises at the London Coliseum, our Members may choose to begin the evening with a three-course Champagne Dinner at the Corinthia Hotel, at the acclaimed restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge. Renowned for his refined yet deeply comforting approach to British cooking, Kerridge’s dishes combine impeccable technique with generosity of flavour, creating a relaxed yet luxurious prelude to the ballet. Set within the elegant surroundings of the Corinthia, this dinner forms a fitting first act to an exceptional cultural evening.
