Worsley Arms Hotel, Hovingham, for stunning country holidays on the North York Moors

The Worsley Arms, built in the 1840s as a Spa Hotel, offers a timeless and comfortable country setting in the centre of the North York Moors National Park. It stands overlooking the village green at Hovingham, birthplace of HRH The Duchess of Kent, formerly Lady Katherine Worsley.

The hotel is now a Silver Award winning three-star with a genuine country inn atmosphere. There are 20 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms and guests can make use of the tennis and squash courts on site.

The restaurant offers enjoyable food with a high standard of service and has been awarded 2 AA rosettes. There is an extensive wine list, and guests can choose their wine straight from the cellar.

The hotel is just 15 miles north of York and ideally located for visiting stately homes such as Castle Howard (15 minutes’ drive) and Rievaulx Abbey. It is a fine location for touring the area—it is on the edge of the National Park, close to the castle towns of Helmsley and Pickering, half an hour from the Yorkshire Dales, a few minutes’ drive from the Yorkshire Wolds and less than an hour from Scarborough. Local country sports include grouse and pheasant shooting, which can be arranged on the neighbouring estates, and hunting, which can also be arranged. There is plenty of good walking, bird watching, cycling and golf.

Two Night Break: Breakfast and dinner: £50 per person per night. CCUK saving per day: £42.50. Saving per break: £170. Dogs welcome (at £7 extra charge per night).
