In the pink: super English-made pure wool gilet by Grenouille

Also spied in the fashion shows: fabulous country style, starting with a new English pure wool gilet in one of this season’s colours, dusky rose pink.

It caught our eye because it is smart and attractive yet practical, with its delightful colour, its flattering fitted cut, the shaped collar and revere which turns it from a simple waistcoat into a stand-alone piece—and, being cut in a particularly warm wool fabric, it will keep you cosy and looking good, indoors and out, on its own or under a jacket or coat. It is one of those pieces we always need, but can never find.

It is ideal with a wool skirt or trousers, jeans or cords, and a shirt or jumper. Wear it everywhere: for spring or autumn walks, driving and shopping, lunching with friends or family—you name it. The secret to its warmth and substance is the cloth—created using a method from before the Middle Ages. Pure wool is first knitted then felted, creating wool with a little stretch to improve its fit, and also windproof, extra warm and harder wearing.

Edged with piping, lined with a silky tone-on-tone rose pink satin, this super gilet is extremely well finished. It has four front buttons, two front faux pockets and a full back, shaped, elegant, and all in the same wool—unlike many gilets, it is made entirely in wool, which again keeps you warm and looks and feels more substantial.
