Viyella Classic Fit shirts provide a more generous fit than most. Beautifully tailored, they are straighter at the sides, with a side pleat at the base of the back yoke to give ease of movement to the shoulder region. The luxurious fabric, the historic specially blended cotton-Merino wool blend, gives winter warmth.
Viyella was first woven in England in 1893 by William Hollins & Co from a blend of 55% wool and 45% cotton in a twill weave. The first ready-made garments using Viyella were shirts and nightgowns, and soon came dresses, slips and other clothing. It was cloth that your cold-weather shirts were made out of–and because of its softness, warmth and coziness, it was almost certainly the material that your favourite cold-weather shirt was made from. The fabric has since been modernised to an 80/20 blend, making it easier to wear in modern situations.
