English pewter hipflask by Wentworth of Sheffield: Pheasants, £32

Beautiful pewter feels good in the hand: smooth, polished and warm. And it looks good too: geaming and lustrous. It has to be fine pewter of course. Nobody does this better than the experts in Sheffield, and our pewter company is one of the last specialist makers, Wentworth of Sheffield.

Founded in 1949 by Arthur Richard Wentworth, a pewter craftsman of the old school, Wentworth remain committed to quality, combining the skills of their craftsmen and the beauty of pewter. These sporting hip flasks are designed for a covert-side tot (they won’t hold a flagon, though they have other flasks which do)! These two are smooth and neat, just the right size to fit into the pocket without bulging, and they are handmade, with the classic bright pewter finish, each of them decorated with a rather good picture—one a hunting scene by J F Herring, the second a cock and hen pheasant.

Both hold 6oz (height 115mm, width 95mm, depth 25mm) and arrive in a smart presentation box.
