The beauty of stag-handled knives is their unique natural character, and the feel of them in the hand, and our new traditional steak knives, hand made by master cutlers in Sheffield, look superb when set out on the dining table. Warm to the touch, with their intriguing patterns, furrows and grooves, they are not only easier to hold and grip than most steak knives, they are very tactile. You cannot resist running your fingers down them as you handle them.
The horn used in our new knives comes from stags in the foothills of the Himalayas—the Sambar, largest of all deer species in the Indian sub-continent, and with the finest antlers, sometimes reaching 3ft 6in long.
They shed their beautifully marked antlers naturally each springtime, generally in the same location—so antler gatherers know just where to look.
Our Sheffield master cutlers—whose trademark was first registered in 1838, and who still produce their knives in the same factory—then create a finely-balanced, serrated, highest-quality stainless steel knife, on to which they mount the polished stag horn. The result is guaranteed for life: a hand-crafted work of art and craftsmanship, a pleasure to hold and to use, and a handsome gift.
