This luxury edition English Game Book, beautifully illustrated with specially commissioned watercolours by the pre-eminent British sporting artist Rodger McPhail, is what every Gun desires to record, not only the day’s bag but all the moments which go to making the shooting day memorable. It will be read and treasured for generations to come.

Rodger McPhail is widely regarded as the foremost wildlife and sporting artist in Britain today and his works are among the most sought-after by collectors worldwide. Here he has produced a rich treasure of watercolours—natural and beautiful scenes and vignettes of game birds, from partridges dusting to ptarmigan on the high tops, pheasants in flight, a woodcock skimming the edge of a covert at dusk, a cock grouse surveying the scene on a Lancashire moor (McPhail’s home country), and many more. He has not forgotten the birds and animals which are also part of the shooting day: squirrel, jay, magpie, blackbird and stoat … all are captured, to give pleasure to the Gun, whose own recollections will further enrich the enjoyment of this fine book.

The English Game Book is large (210 x 300 mm) and contains 256 pages, with specific listings on the left-hand pages to record date, place, companions and quarry, the facing page given over to the imagination (the binding includes spaced inserts to allow inclusion of game cards and photographs). It is hard backed, bound with green buckram cloth and leather quarter binding with ribbon marker, gold blocked on the front and spine and enclosed in a slipcase: in all, this fine English Game Book makes a treasured gift for a sporting man or woman.

This fine book is now very difficult to find at any price. Members pay the exclusive price of only £49, including free UK mainland delivery.
