Last-minute chance for our flyfishers to catch a wild spring salmon on the Aberdeenshire Dee at Aboyne: Two rods, three days, April 14-16, 2022: fully booked and event concluded

There is nothing finer in salmon fishing that a springer! These strong, sparkling fish may be elusive, but it is justifiably said that, ‘one springer is worth three autumn fish’. The good news is that springers are generally good takers of the fly and not particularly fussy, they just need to be found with a nicely presented ‘Dee Monkey’!

Due to a cancellation, we have an opportunity for two rods to fish three days on the middle Aberdeenshire Dee from Thursday, April 14, 2022, to Saturday April 16. One of these rods is actually available from April 11 for the full 6 days.

The beat is Aboyne Water, which includes the famous flyfishing pools of Red Rock and Lummels, well known from the writings of the late William B Currie a regular at Aboyne. This lovely three-rod beat is left bank, and comprises 10 pools over 1.5 miles with rods rotating at lunch (1pm to 2pm).

There is a full-time ghillie. Suitable tackle can be provided on request and Spey casting tuition is also readily available if required as an extra.

The beat begins at Aboyne Bridge so after a fine lunch in the excellent ‘Boat Inn’ you can walk across the road and fish the Bridge Pool! Ring member services to arrange good accommodation in the area at Member rates. Note: The Aberdeenshire Dee is 100% catch & release.

For both rods 3 Days: Normal price £540. CCUK Member price £490.
