Join us at the House of Lords for the CountryClubuk Champagne Charity Reception in aid of the Atlantic Salmon Trust’s mission to restore wild Atlantic Salmon, now classified as an endangered species in the UK: the date is Tuesday, October 15, 2024

We are delighted to invite you to attend the CountryClubuk Champagne Charity Reception at the House of Lords on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, hosted by the Lord Mancroft. The change of date (from June 4) has been caused by the calling of the snap General Election and the resulting Dissolution of Parliament.

We much hope the new date will enable you to join us. To enjoy an evening at the House of Lords and on its terrace by the River Thames will be a delightful and memorable event—as well as having an important underlying purpose.

The charity to benefit is the Atlantic Salmon Trust, which is at the forefront of scientific work that has recently led the King Charles III Charitable Fund to give significant support. The battle to save the wild Atlantic salmon is ongoing, yet now there is new urgency due to the parlous state of the wild fish. The species is now in crisis. The population in Britain has recently been reclassified as endangered.

The goal now is to put the urgent case for action to save wild Atlantic salmon—and the wider river and ocean environment—to the new Government, MPs and Lords, who are among our guests.

We much hope our Members will enjoy this high-profile event among the Lords, MPs, scientists and VIPs in the historic splendour of the House of Lords, while supporting this mission to save our wild species.

The Lord Mancroft will host the Reception in the Cholmondeley Room and on The Terrace at the House of Lords, overlooking the River Thames—an apposite venue in which to discuss the restoration of wild salmon to UK rivers. Lord Mancroft will welcome our guests. The Atlantic Salmon Trust will reveal their latest developments and findings, together with news of factors they term ‘the likely suspects’—and Francis Fulford, Devon landowner, journalist, columnist, author and TV personality, whose forebear Sir Francis Fulford was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1625, will also speak.
The Cholmondeley Room will itself be an historic venue which we can enjoy. It is rich with original designs by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, architects of much of the Palace of Westminster still standing today. Royal coats of arms line the walls, from William the Conqueror to Queen Victoria.
At the Reception, Champagne will be served on arrival, followed by hot and cold canapés, served with House of Lords wines and soft drinks. Numbers are of course limited, but the aim is to have a capacity crowd, and you are welcome to invite your personal guests. Tickets are £139 per head and the proceeds will go to the charity.

The date is Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The timing is 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The dress code is smart (lounge suits for the men and equivalent attire for the ladies).

A specimen of the personalised invitation which you will receive when you have booked your tickets appears above (and which you and your guests will bring to the House of Lords along with photo ID as part of the security protocol on arrival at the event, which is timed for 6pm).

We much hope that you and your guests will join us for this special, memorable, worthwhile and, we hope and expect, interesting and entertaining social occasion.
