In the swing: the new mid-length alpaca cape, the Cordillera

Capes are a major fashion item this season and this new hip-skimming alpaca blend Cordillera Cape, just arriving in London, is really in the swing. Baby-soft and thick, it hangs beautifully; and is so neat and fluid it achieves an impressive silhouette which chimes with the ‘over-size’ look for the season while maintaining a comfortable-cool style and simplicity.

We spied this super cape at the new fashion shows, and think it ideal for adding cosiness, comfort and warmth to an outfit without being heavy; instead it helps you maintain a light and loose balance. It works all the time: fabulous with leather gloves, fur hat and stole and a knee-length skirt with the new court shoes or boots; or simply add a long, lean dress; or layer it with a tunic and trousers for the statement 2013 look.

The Cordillera is handmade in Peru. It is well finished, with four covered buttons and wool piping round the edges and an attractive stand-up collar. It is fully satin lined, which adds to the warmth and helps create that super drape and movement.
