Spied at the recent London show—’The Ready’, by Drew Lennox, a stylish, contemporary ladies’ wallet combining clutch, wallet, travel wallet and purse. It is so practical and easy to use—but beyond this it is uniquely designed to show rare and sumptuous English leathers—personally selected full-grained leathers that are not only beautiful and individual in texture and colour, but increasingly difficult to find as so many English tanneries are closing down. The Drew Lennox style is to focus on the finest English leathers, and help to keep the tanneries in business!

The idea is the brainchild of Drew Lennox’s David Todd, who set up the company in Brightling, East Sussex, out of a fascination for the tone, textures, colours, grains, softness and finishes of fine English leathers. He tours the English tanneries to find the perfect leathers to create his individual and unique wallets. They are then handmade by craftsmen leather workers—each piece individualised with the textured Drew Lennox signature embossing texturing the exterior.

They look great—and we chose this style, ‘The Ready’, because it blends fashion with fine leathers and high quality, contrasting two different English leathers, with a vast range of colours designed to match any outfit—you can personalise even further with initials—together with attention-to-detail practicality. It not only feels good, it carries all you need for the day, whether you are out for a coffee, lunch or dinner, driving, spending a day at the races or an evening at the theatre.

‘The Ready’ is a perfect medium-sized organising wallet with enough room and pockets for all your needs, yet at 115mm high (opening to 235mm) by 192mm wide by 33mm deep, it fits beautifully in your hand and is small enough for a coat pocket. It exudes quality and will last for years. It is also intelligently organised, containing three full length compartments for ample storage for bank notes (excellent for separating different denominations and currencies), a concealed compartment for tickets or receipts, 11 individual cardholder slots, an extra window pocket for ID, security, travel cards or photograph, a zipped compartment on the reverse for easy-access items, and a security zipped internal compartment which can take more tickets, notes, coins etc. It can be carried easily by means of the wrist strap, leaving your hand free, or remove the strap and carry as a clutch. It has a patterned wipe-clean lining, steel logo and zipper heads and brushed nickel fittings and arrives in a smart presentation case, making a discerning gift.
