The Night of The Iguana: New production starring Clive Owen: Thursday, July 18: Members save £35

£47.50

The first new production of Tennessee Williams’ last great play The Night Of The Iguana to arrive in London since 2005 is tempting Golden Globe winning actor Clive Owen back to the West End for the first time in 18 years.
Owen is a Golden Globe-winning actor perhaps best known for his leading roles in films including Children Of Men, Sin City and Closer (a role which saw him nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor). He will perform opposite Anna Gunn, well known for her role as Skyler in Breaking Bad, Lia Williams, whose catalogue of roles include appearances in The Crown and Kiri, and Julian Glover (Game of Thrones). The play is directed by James Macdonald, whose recent West End credits include Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? with Imelda Staunton.
The film of this play memorably starred Richard Burton, Ava Gardner and Deborah Kerr. In the strange limbo of 1940, on a dilapidated hotel verandah perched high in a rainforest above the west coast of Mexico, a group of lost souls collide—a defrocked priest turned tourist guide, the grieving widow who runs the hotel, a family of jubilant Nazis, and an itinerant portrait artist with her 97-year-old poet grandfather. The result is an epic battle between flesh and spirit, captivity and freedom, art and faith—heightened by the arrival of a tropical rain-storm.
‘The Night of The Iguana’ is playing for a short run in July at the Noel Coward Theatre, St Martin’s Lane, London WC2N 4AU. As a CountryClubuk Member you can snap up centre Royal Dress Circle tickets for the evening performance (7.30pm) on Thursday, July 18, at the Club price of £45 plus £2.50 booking fee (currently selling elsewhere at £82.60).
