The Goring has been called ‘is the oldest privately-owned hotel in central London’. Indeed The Goring is one of our favourite London places to stay. It has been owned by the Goring family for four generations. Mr O R Goring, who opened The Goring Hotel on March 2, 1910, was an innovator of style and vision—this was the first hotel in the world to install a private bathroom and central heating in every bedroom.
The Goring still clearly declares its country-house roots and heritage, and enjoys the largest—as well as the most peaceful—private garden of any central London hotel. The hotel remains honour bound to its traditions and the facilities, the ambience, the service and the food are all classically English and quietly superb.
It is located at Beeston Place, just behind Buckingham Palace, where you will discover its elegant surroundings, superb service, outstanding facilities and a warm welcome.
The Garden Bar is the perfect location for meeting friends and business associates to enjoy a drink or a delectable light snack.
The dining room (note, not restaurant) is light and airy, as might be expected from its designer, Princess Margaret’s son, Lord Lindley, whose artistry with English woods has been justly admired.
The chef is a master at using the finest fresh ingredients from around Britain—The Goring was serving His Grace the Duke of Buccleuch’s excellent prime beef to its diners before most people knew of its existence.Spacious yet intimate, the Dining Room is renowned for its excellent English food, with a few light continental touches.
Each of the 71 luxury bedrooms and suites is individually designed and decorated, combining the traditional classic style with up-to-the-minute technology.
All rooms have marble bathrooms, and some have a private balcony overlooking the garden.
