Welcome to The Beaumont, Mayfair club style in one of the world's great hotels
|
Walking into The Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair is rather like walking into a wood-panelled London members' club: five-star luxury with that exclusive club atmosphere which is so attractive and welcoming. Old school in the things that should be old school—service, style, comfort, personal welcome—and modern in the way you need it to be—smart technology behind a smooth delivery of all that is required of a five-star hotel and more, including a chauffeur-driven Daimler. This is style in the grand tradition.
|
Despite occupying an Art Deco Grade II listed 1926 building, The Beaumont actually opened only eight years ago, and as such it is very much the new kid on the block—but it feels as if it has been here since the Twenties, and it is perfect for a civilised stay in a peaceful enclave in the very heart of Mayfair, and for sauntering in to enjoy a quiet coffee with friends, or afternoon tea in Gatsby's Room, a drink in Le Magritte Bar, or dining in The Colony Grill, which has a reputation for serving the best steak in London.
The Beaumont is the first hotel opened by Jeremy King and Chris Corbin, powerhouses behind The Ivy, Le Caprice, The Delaunay and The Wolseley—which gives an idea of its high-class nature. In its short life The Beaumont has won a fistful of awards, including The Gallivanter's Guide’s Best Independent Hotel in the World two years running. Our Members are welcomed here with advantageous rates and extra treats including a fourth night free of charge. Rates fluctuate depending on date, so please click here now to read our full feature and check availability and options.

Amazing wild deep-sea Carabineros, the world's finest prawns in size and flavour
|
If ever you and your guests want to taste the ultimate prawn, here it is: the wild deep-sea Carabineros. Serve these and your stock as a gourmet chef will soar! Carabineros are recognised as simply the world's finest prawns. Their deep crimson colour hints at an unbeatable and intense depth of taste. Truly they are like no other—and we are delighted to be able to bring them to our Members at the special price usually reserved only for the chefs.
Carabineros' rich and robust flavour is quite different to that of the usual prawn. The flesh inside is fine-textured, firm and juicy, with a beautiful sweet taste. Grill whole in the shell for minutes to experience an explosion of flavour. The head alone is packed full of taste intensity, and a delicacy prized by gourmets worldwide.
These genuine Carabineros (Aristaeopsis edwardsiana, genus plesiopanaeus) are named after the red uniform worn by the Spanish guard, and indeed in Spain they are prized, as they are in France, where they are known as Crevette Imperiale. That flavour and size are achieved by feeding only on plankton and seaweed at depths of up to 1,000 metres. They are caught by small, family-run boats, flash-frozen on board to ensure they are at their best.
Clearly, Carabineros are a delicious indulgence, and the good news is that as CountryClubuk Members receive the chefs' prices, so that you and your favourite gourmets will not be disappointed!

The Baron’s Sicilian white from the slopes of Mount Etna: top-rated Murgo Etna 2021
|
90/100, Eric Guido
We are delighted to have secured the delicious dry white wine from a baronial family estate situated high on the slopes of Sicily’s live volcano, Mount Etna. Scammacca Del Murgo Etna Blanco is sought after—so, on our Tasting Panel advice, we have snapped up cases for the Club Cellar to be sure Members don’t miss out.
The wine has a rare pedigree: it is made by Baron Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo, former Italian Ambassador and Foreign Affairs minister, who returned to his family’s traditional estate to concentrate on producing his family wines from vines—some original French varieties—on this extreme terroir. Altitude adds cool night-time temperatures to sun-soaked Sicilian days, lending wonderful freshness and aromatic complexity to the wines, while volcanic soils result in a distinct mineral character.
Awarding 90/100 points, Eric Guido notes, ‘Opens with cascading floral tones and crushed stone giving way to sweet peach. It’s soft and enveloping, with a bolt of green citrus. Leaves the palate completely refreshed and with a salty concentration. This zesty, mineral-packed Etna Bianco really plays with the palate.’ The Club Tasting Panel agree, noting, ‘Very good wine . . . layers of fruit, lemon and apple to melon, pineapple . . . tinge of honey. High activity and minerality, good length. Interesting and delicious.’ Made with 70% Caricante and 30% Catarratto Bianco. Pairs perfectly with white fish, grilled prawns and rice dishes.

Chocolate heaven! Delicious new Gourmet Truffles: 120 chocolates, a full 1.6 kilos
|
Chocolate heaven indeed! These gorgeous new Gourmet Chocolate Truffles are those which the top London Michelin-star chefs and others serve in their restaurants with coffee—at enormous expense! The Club Tasting Panel declared them delicious, and we know our chocolate-loving Members will agree. Furthermore, at 120 pieces totalling 1.6kg in weight, sophisticated and not too sweet, they make a discerning as well as generous collection when entertaining guests.
The box holds two layers, filled with 120 pieces in six varieties, including plain, milk and white chocolate, some with alcohol and some without: Rum Truffle, Dark Chocolate Truffle, White Chocolate Truffle, Raspberry Brandy Truffle, Hazelnut Truffle and Coconut Truffle, a selection which will indulge all tastes.
They are made in England by an artisan family chocolatier company who are the makers behind many famous brands. Using Swiss chocolate and natural ingredients including fresh cream and butter, rum and raspberry brandy, they produce sophisticated, beautifully balanced flavours.
The truffles will arrive, still in their plain white box, just as they are received by the Michelin Star chefs. We think them ideal to serve after dinner on a platter, and they are perfect for serving at a large party of discerning guests. If giving as a gift, however, they would need to be gift-boxed and wrapped.

The King Charles III Coronation Spoon: heritage piece by Arthur Price of England
|
To celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III on May 6, the venerable family-owned cutlers Arthur Price of England have created a beautifully crafted, highly polished Coronation Spoon, decorated with the Charles III cypher and portrait. The Coronation Spoon is one of the most interesting Medieval spoons and this is a stylish commemorative heritage piece for collectors and admirers of the Royal Family the world over.
The Coronation Spoon has an important, ongoing ceremonial role in the Coronations of the Kings and Queens of England. It is designed to be used by the Archbishop to anoint the Sovereign with holy oil, one of the Medieval holy sacraments, symbolising that the Sovereign is appointed directly by God. Although the Monarch is no longer considered divine in the same way, the ceremony also confirms the Monarch as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, and the Coronation Spoon will play its part in the anointing ceremony prior to the Coronation of Charles III—for the first time to be carried out under the public gaze—as it has in the Coronation of every Sovereign, probably from as early as Henry II in 1154, and certainly from James I in 1603.
Arthur Price, established in 1902, have a tradition of producing commemorative spoons for Royal occasions (and Arthur Price himself produced the cutlery for the RMS Titanic captain's table and first class passengers, a pattern they still produce today). Their new Commemorative Spoon is made in highly polished 18-10 stainless steel, its characteristically long stem patterned with interlaced scrolls linking a plain oval bowl to the handle and terminal, decorated with the word 'Coronation', the head of Charles III and the year 2023. A substantial piece, in a limited edition, it arrives in its own individual presentation box.

Members' favourite Miraval, the world's best rose': magnums and cases at exclusive Club prices
|
92/100 Wine Enthusiast
92/100 Falstaff
90/100 Decanter
The multi-award-winning 2021 Château Miraval Côtes de Provençe rosé is delicious—and now we are celebrating its arrival as a magnum at an exclusive Club Members' price.
This, the best rosé in the world according to critics, is deemed ‘the perfect Provençal rosé’ by the connoisseurs at Berry Bros & Rudd, who describe Miraval’s peerless Provençe rosé as 'dangerously drinkable', and 'the 2021 is no different. It is pale, almost imperceptibly pink—the perfect colour for rosé. This is gloriously scented with wild strawberries, forced rhubarb and garrigue. There’s more soft red fruit on the palate, with a delicate peach note and wet-stone minerality. Wines for whiling away a summer afternoon don’t get better than this. Ready to drink now.'
The only rosé to make the Wine Spectator Top 100 list of the Best Wines, it really is the perfect Provençal rosé—and a magnum of such an appealing wine makes an impressive and discerning gift. Please order now as these magnums are in extremely short supply!

Gold Leaf, the world’s best gardening gloves, hailed by gardeners from Chelsea Flower Show to the Palace!
|
Gold Leaf gloves are probably the best gardening gloves you can find. Considered the best in the world, they have won top honours from Chelsea Flower Show to Alan Titchmarsh and The Flowerpot Gang—and these are the gardening gloves worn by the Royal gardeners at Buckingham Palace.
The secret lies in the quality of the leather—they use the soft, supple deerskin otherwise used only in premium couture gloves—and the fit. Both of which are better than other, even more expensive types.
