Just arrived, the perfect Spring-Summer chinos for our sartorially elegant Members. Very stylish, very Ralph Lauren, their colours ranging from classic favourite navy, stone and brick to taupe and thyme—the ideal contrast to wear with a navy blazer or linen jacket, teamed with a white shirt of some sort and with or without a Panama hat.
Well-constructed chinos are now the classic trousers when flannels seem too formal and jeans too casual. They are the perfect trousers to relax in, even to wear with a blazer and loafers, so long as they are good—and these chinos are the latest thing this year among the male fashion labels (as reported in GQ among others!), but they have been classics for years, and these new chinos might easily become your favourite trousers.

As to the fit, they are straight cut classics, stylish and traditionally cut, made by Gurteen, an English family tailoring business since 1784, and supreme trouser specialists. From Gurteen’s premium Longford range, they are lighter than the autumn chinos yet still built to last and to make you look good and feel comfortable at the same time.
They are smart—with a flat front, super-crease legs, belt loops and matching canvas belt (the correct belt to wear with chinos)—and well made, the fabric pigment washed to resist fading, the outer seams reinforced. And for even more comfort the waistband has a slight stretch (hence the 3% Elastane added to the pure cotton). The two back pockets are buttoned and the two hip pockets have room for anything from your mobile phone and wallet to an engrossing paperback.
