Saint James Paris, best rates and reciprocal membership at this luxurious and exclusive Château Club in the heart of Paris: part of French history and a wonderful place to stay, dine or book an event in the French capital

The Saint James Club Paris extends to our Members the benefits of reciprocal membership at its historically important château in the heart of Paris.

For business meetings in Paris, the venue and ambience could hardly be more impressive. For pleasure, this superb chateau behind an almost regal gated entrance, surrounding its guests in French antiquities and silk furnishings, leaves you in no doubt that you are in one of the world’s most culturally stimulating cities. Far better, we think, to be ensconced in one of France’s historic monuments as a VIP guest with special privileges, than to stay in a ‘normal’ hotel.

The St James is part of French history. It was built in 1892 as the Nation’s memorial to Adolphe Thiers, President of the French Republic, which accounts for the opulence of its design, its large, secluded walled gardens, and its prime location near the Arc de Triomphe, between Avenue Foch and Avenue Victor Hugo. Thiers was a politician and historian of the first order. He played a decisive part in the July Revolution, and in 1871 succeeded in effecting peace for France with Germany, after which he was elected President. Of course Thiers never lived in the chateau, but France’s finest students of politics and history resided here in luxurious splendour as part of the Thiers Foundation. Later, as befitted its atmosphere of a large chateau within a private estate, it became a private club as well as an elegant hotel.
Now, set as it is in the heart of a very different Paris, a hushed, tranquil atmosphere reigns over all. A grand sweeping double staircase sets the tone and rich splashes of red carpet mingle with gleaming crystal chandeliers, leather and dark woods to create an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
The elegance continues throughout the 48 spacious bedrooms and suites. These are havens of peace and quiet, cool and as comfortable as those of a private country estate, the air-conditioned bedrooms and suites having high ceilings, tall windows and beautiful wallpapers, as well as, on the top floor, private patios. The ensuite bathrooms are marble, with excellent fittings and fine toiletries.
Meanwhile the library bar is one of the most exclusive and sumptuous bars in Paris, and the fine dining restaurant is of gourmet standard. Both are for the private enjoyment of club members, residents and their guests, and are not open to the public. The beautiful new health club features two hammams (steam rooms), spacious cabins where a new and exclusive French brand, Gemology, offers treatments based on diamond, ruby, sapphire, red jasper, lapis lazuli and more; plus massage, reflexology and more.
In such a magnificent setting, with conference rooms, private meeting rooms, a listed library, and health club, we think this is the ideal home-from-home for our Members at work or play. If you are driving to Paris, you can park here in the club’s private car park, with valet service. If you are on business, there are full business services (including wireless Internet throughout). You can safely entertain your most important guests here for either a meeting, or lunch or dinner: and, like perfect hosts, the staff really do know how to take care of you.
When you want to explore Paris, you can step outside the sophistication and grandeur of the château and you are within comfortable walking distance of Paris’s most prestigious addresses, and just a few minutes’ walk from the metro. Then, after a busy day in town, it is a treat to return to this peaceful neighbourhood with its pretty, tree-lined streets and restaurants—just like returning to your own private Parisian mansion.

Location
The chateau is a few yards from the Arc de Triomphe and the Bois de Boulogne, 45 km from Charles de Gaulle airport, 35 km from Orly airport, 2-minute walk to the nearest Metro station (Porte Dauphine), 4 km to the nearest station (St Lazare).

Membership to the Saint James is by invitation. Our Members enjoy the benefits of reciprocal membership, which includes the best available rate for rooms and suites, complimentary breakfast, a VIP welcome, early check-in and late check-out, and a complimentary upgrade to a higher room category if this is available.

As a Member, with prior appointment you can also dine in the restaurant and use the library bar without being a resident. You can also book meeting rooms at a preferential rate.
