The Guardsman is just round the corner from St James’s Park. Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, Wellington Barracks, Guards Museum and Guards Chapel are all nearby and it’s just a 10-minute walk from Victoria Station. It is perfect for those with business in Parliament or Buckingham Palace, and the ideal location for soaking up the sights and shops of London, in prime position for St James’s and Mayfair, Westminster, Knightsbridge, Kensington and Belgravia, with easy road and rail links to the City.

The hotel is purpose-built, opened in 2020 when it won a Conde Nast design award. Its low-key grey-brick exterior and unobtrusive entrance give way to a club interior, elegantly British as befits its name and location. Discrete and attentive service combined with a dedication to personalisation make every details reminiscent of the private club ambience it strives to maintain.

Guest rooms range across four room types from the 139 sq ft (13 sq m) Queen Single to the 204 sq ft (19 sq m) Superior Double and the 236 sq ft (22 sq m) Deluxe Double to the 301 sq ft (28 sq m) Executive Double room. Some Superior, Deluxe and Executive rooms connect to Queen single rooms, making them perfect for families, groups and travelling business partners. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer an abundance of light and imaginative designs feature comfortable beds and splashes of colour in décor and artwork.

For longer stays, larger groups, or those who want a more at-home feel, the Residences range from The one-bedroom Copeland Residence to the two-bedroom Bondfield, Horsbrugh, Wintringham and Summerskill Residences, all the way to the three-bedroom penthouse, The Astor, with its two outdoor terraces and room for six guests. All Residences feature full kitchens, a work area, a spacious open-plan layout and St James’s views.

Along with concierge services, The Guardsman also offers luxury services including valets, private chefs, pre-arrival kitchen and pantry stockings, personalised unpacking and 24-hour room service. Technologically advanced, all the rooms have high-spec televisions with Chromecast, well-stocked minibars and coffee- and tea-making facilities. The winding, feature staircase leads to the small Art Deco-style bar and restaurant, The Dining Room. Modern and traditional portraits and prints feature on the walls and the impression is light and inviting. The Dining Room is open 24 hours to residents and their guests and has a focus on seasonal, organic ingredients. The wide-ranging breakfast menu includes full English and Continental, with freshly-squeezed fruit juice, Eggs Benedict, omelettes and Severn & Wye smoked salmon. This is followed by an à la carte menu—what’s more, there are no set times for service. Rather, The Guardsman offers a more personal approach and offers guests the opportunity to eat what they want, when they want.
