New from Paris this season, French flair and femininity in the form of fabulous new unstructured coats in rich new colours. Designed and made in Paris by French fashion house Eva Tralala, they are satisfyingly Parisian in their cut, look, quality and sheer verve.
Distinctively French, versatile enough to put on the style in Sloane Street, the Shires or the Shetlands, the cut is distinctly flattering Parisian. It disguises imperfections and makes you feel fantastic: once worn, you will wonder how you managed without it.
The Valois coat has a large collar, an open front which drapes beautifully, and a silhouette designed in homage to the oversized cuts of the season, one which softens strict winter silhouettes—as seen on the Proenza Schouler and Gucci catwalks. Wear it everywhere: for autumn walks, driving and shopping, lunching with friends or family—it is incredibly versatile and can be dressed up and down. It can be fastened with its large pin brooch or remain open: the pockets are perfectly positioned to keep your hands toasty-warm. Choose from two colours: French claret (pictured left with one of the new Christy & Co hats) and Tyrian purple.
The secret to the warmth and substance of the coat is the pure wool fabric, created using a method from before the Middle Ages. The wool is first knitted then felted, producing wool which is windproof, extra warm and hard-wearing: it is also very much in vogue.
It is one size (fits UK 8 to 18) and when you look at the picture, please remember that the model is 6ft tall!
