Designed by Angela Stevens, founder of Dora Designs, this rather fine Springer Spaniel doorstop is one for those who know the breed — and particularly those who have lived or worked with Springers.
Spangle comes from the Dora Designs Pedigree Collection and has the colouring of the English Springer, his coat made up in light beige wool-mix fabric with brown and muted green herringbone. The long, floppy ears are present and correct, as is the expectant expression familiar to anyone whose Springer has reason to believe that something interesting may shortly happen.
He is, of course, here to work. Sitting patiently at his post, Spangle will hold a door open or prevent it from swinging shut, remaining there until his services are required elsewhere.
Not only does he perform this worthwhile duty, he adds considerably to the general gaiety of life — a lively little personality in his own right.

The real thing may be waiting for a walk, a retrieve, supper or simply the next opportunity for mischief; Spangle, happily, is content to wait by the door.
Designed by Angela Stevens for the Dora Designs Pedigree Collection, he is made in light beige wool-mix fabric with contrasting brown and muted green herringbone, carefully chosen to suggest the colouring of the English Springer Spaniel. Embroidered detailing gives definition to his paws and features, while a black velveteen nose, bright eyes and that splendid tail complete the picture.
At approximately 29cm high and weighing around 1.12kg, he has sufficient substance for his proper occupation: holding a door open or helping prevent it from swinging shut. Hall, boot room, kitchen, study or sitting room — he asks for very little in the way of accommodation and, unlike his living counterpart, brings no muddy paws with him.
A useful fellow, certainly, but also a particularly agreeable present for anyone with a Springer in their life.
