Langham London: best rates saving hundreds of pounds at the first Grand Hotel in Europe: unbeatable rates at this elegant five-star hotel, plus VIP status including an instant complimentary room upgrade

Langham London, built in 1865 as the first ‘Grand Hotel’ in Europe, and still a luxury five-star, one of the capital’s finest, is a favourite with our Members, who receive exclusive best rates and complimentary room upgrades. The Langham has always had class: the opening ceremony was performed by the then Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII.

As befits the grandest hotel in Europe, the 380 guest rooms were built on a lavish scale and are among London’s largest, culminating in the Infinity Suite—at 2,540 sq ft one of London’s largest two-bedroom suites—with colour-therapy and infinity-edge bath, high ceilings and views towards Regents Park. Other rooms feature living areas and large marble bathrooms. Beds are supremely comfortable. The room palette of dark browns and greys is accented by the hotel’s signature colour—a soft sugar-pink.

The entry-level Superior rooms are 301sq ft, Deluxe are 355sq ft. Guests who choose Executive rooms and suites enjoy complimentary access to The Langham Club, a serene retreat with personalised service. Apart from a spacious and handsome room, this gives you everything from private check-in to complimentary breakfast to free-flow evening Champagne and canapes and more, and you receive a suit pressing service and two hours’ use of a private room for meetings of up to 10 people.

Ever since its Royal opening, the Langham—which stands resplendent at the top of Regent Street—has attracted an internationally famous clientele. The literary crowd has included Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde and Noël Coward, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle set Sherlock Holmes stories here. Composers Antonín Dvořák and Arturo Toscanini were regulars, as was Sir Donald Bradman, the cricketer. Emperors included Napoleon III and Haile Selassie of Ethiopia. Politicians and statesmen met here: Sir Winston Churchill when Prime Minister entertained French President Charles De Gaulle here. And Royal guests have continued to enjoy the Langham, it being a favourite hotel of Diana, Princess of Wales.

The historic, opulent Palm Court has been serving English afternoon tea since 1865. This, the centrepiece of the hotel, claims fame as the place where the tradition of afternoon tea was born more than 140 years ago. A winner of the Tea Guild’s Top London Afternoon Tea, the Palm Court also offers light dining all day and as evening falls, Champagne and cocktails. From the high-backed banquettes you have a commanding view over the mirrored room while relaxing comfortably on the wedge-shaped sofas.

The hotel restaurant, Roux at the Landau (reopening soon), is home to father-and-son celebrity chefs Albert and Michel Roux Jr. Featuring a lavish yet elegant dining room created by designer David Collins, this is sumptuous fine dining on London’s famous Regent Street; the cuisine is superb, classic French with a contemporary twist. The restaurant has a superb reputation—and again our Members receive 15% off the final bill (excluding service charge) when lunching or dining.

Private entertaining is a speciality. An extraordinarily extensive range of event venues and facilities can accommodate all types of gatherings from luncheons for a select few to large weddings in the elegant ballroom for up to 375 guests. The variety of rooms is unique, and including courtyard access for outdoor or semi-outdoor events.

Additional facilities include the Health Club, a full-service spa and fitness centre with a 16-metre swimming pool, salt sauna and separate sauna and steam rooms, state-of-the-art techno-gym equipment, free weights and accessories, cardiovascular machines and personal trainers.

We enjoy exclusive rates, saving literally hundreds of pounds per night, with complimentary room upgrades if available on arrival. We believe our rates to be the very best available anywhere.
