Ca’ Sagredo Venice, best rates in this Venetian palazzo on the Grand Canal: part of Venetian history: blissful nights and days in a palace of fine art, beauty and delight

A Palazzo in Venice: luxury down to a fine art

Venice is Europe’s most romantic city; Ca’ Sagredo is a Venetian palace
overlooking the Grand Canal, its walls lined with ancient frescoes.
Together, the experience is out of this world . . .

Drifting like a mirage within its watery realm, Venice is certainly the world’s most unreal city: beautiful, mysterious, an assault on the senses, itself assaulted by water. Thronged with palaces, churches, bridges and courtyards, it is like walking through a vast museum whose landscape changes with the tides and the ebb and flow of people. As the novelist Henry James once wrote, a visit to Venice becomes a perpetual love affair. Like a scene from Canaletto, very aspect of this city is a work of art; and our chosen palazzo hotel is a part of Venetian history.

Our Members not only enjoy admiring works of art, they like to stay in them, and none better than an opulent five-star palace along the Grand Canal. To spoil yourself—and enjoy the perfect view of the Voga Longa as the boats row along the Grand Canal—stay in a luxurious suite in our favourite Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, a wildly romantic and desirable 14th-century palazzo with a terrace right on the water’s edge. The experience is unmissable.

This glorious and historic palazzo was the home of the noble Morosini family, and later the Sagredo, one of the Venetian aristocracy’s most influential families. Now, behind the delicate pink façade lie sumptuous public rooms and guest bedrooms all immersed in the atmosphere of historic Venice. Several are home to important works of art, including paintings by eminent Venetian painters of the 18th and 19th centuries, Sebastiano Ricci, Giambattista Tiepolo, Niccoò Bambini and Pietro Longhi.

Ca’ Sagredo is indeed what its owners name ‘A Private Palazzo, a Noble Residence, a Museum, a Luxury Hotel and much more …’ It has won a place in the 500 Best Hotels in the World from Travel+Leisure and the Gold List by Condé Nast Traveler, and can truly be named one of the world’s great hotels. There are 42 bedrooms and suites, each one different, yet sharing traditional elements as well as fabulous views over the Grand Canal or the roofs and squares of Venice.

The suites include the huge Sebastiano Ricci Suite with its 100 sq metre bedroom, spacious sitting room and superb stuccoed ceiling by the 18th-century artist Sebastiano Ricci. All the rooms are decorated with sumptuous fabrics, gilded mirrors, rococo gilt armchairs and antique furniture to underpin the romantic Venetian atmosphere, and yet they are fitted with the latest in contemporary technology and in-room amenities. The effect is a luxurious combination of the antique and the contemporary.

When to go

Go at any time. In summer you will have good weather, though crowds. In winter, it may be cold, but Venice will be yours to enjoy. Spring and autumn are delightful. But whenever you choose there will always be a distinct Venetian atmosphere, a festival of some sort, and a scene of unremitting pleasure for the senses.
