Dear Member,
To take a maiden voyage on a ship which will likely take the crown as the world’s most luxurious cruise ship as soon as she is launched, is an unmissable experience—and we are delighted to announce that as a CountryClubuk Member you are invited to be among the first to experience the exhilaration and luxury of a cruise aboard this ship. It will truly be the ultimate luxury cruise.
In 2020, the newly launched Regent Seven Seas Splendor—considered ‘luxury perfected’ in this ultra-luxurious fleet, will make her maiden voyage from Barcelona in Spain to Miami, Florida, USA. It will be a 14-night feast of pomp and ceremony, celebrations and style—and we have reserved seven magnificent suites for our Members on this palatial ship’s first voyage. Not only this, but you have exclusive CountryClubuk rates, not open to any other passengers.
This cruise is aptly named ‘Splendor at Sea’. And Regent Seven Seas is the cruise line which invented ‘all-inclusive’ luxury and has won every accolade: Best for Accommodation 2017; Best for Luxury 2017; Best for Excursions 2017; and a host of awards too numerous to list here. Regent have among the highest crew-to-passenger ratio, the most spacious, relaxing accommodation, the highest haute cuisine . . . and they are totally, generously, no-holds-barred all-inclusive—meaning everything, from unlimited shore excursions in every port of call, to return flights, to excellent wines and spirits, gourmet food and more.
Moreover, on Seven Seas Splendor you will be the first to experience the elegance and style of a new luxury ship—to see the grace of her sleek hull as she cuts through the ocean, the first to enjoy a luxurious suite with its own private balcony, the first to book tables in the gourmet restaurants, and the first to luxuriate in the spa, play poker in the casino, enjoy the nightly live shows in the theatre, raise a Champagne toast to the new ship in the bars, luxuriate in the club lounge and see the islands appear on the horizon from your private balcony or viewing lounge. You will also be first to discover, up close, the details of the treasures on board, from the exquisite craftsman-created marble patterns around you to the soaring ceilings topped by cut-glass chandeliers, and the art which will vie with that of sister ship Explorer for the title of ‘finest treasures at sea’.
As the owners say, ‘For more than 25 years we have made it our passion to bring you to the world’s most beautiful destinations while indulging your every wish with impeccable personalised service aboard intimately spacious ships. We are proud to usher in a new era for Regent Seven Seas Cruises and yet again set a new standard for luxury by striving for the ultimate achievement—perfection. In our pursuit to exceed your expectations we are creating a work of art, from bow to stern. No expense, no effort, and no detail is spared in the design of our new ship. In the smallest detail you will find care and meticulousness, and across opulent restaurants, spacious suites and sumptuous lounges, witness the majesty of expert craftsmanship and excellence in design.’
Along with these aspirations, Regent Seven Seas is inviting our Members to be among the very first to experience their new ship. And you will also be able to take advantage of the all-inclusive rates which give you complimentary flights and transfers, multiple free top-grade shore excursions and prepaid gratuities—so that nothing can get in the way of your unadulterated pleasure and enjoyment of the ship.
This cruise from Barcelona to Miami gives just seven Members the unique chance to be part of a maiden transatlantic voyage to Florida in early February, leaving the British winter behind and enjoying early Springtime in beautiful ports of call along the way. This being February, the holiday crowds have disappeared, while the budding warmth of the Mediterranean, followed by Madeira, Bermuda and Miami, are at their most comfortable—as we all know, February can be a really good time to be away from the UK!
Added to which, this 14-night transatlantic cruise gives you long, leisurely days and nights to really explore and luxuriate in Seven Seas Splendor herself. By the time she is launched she is more than likely to be hailed the most luxurious cruise ship ever built, succeeding her beautiful, eye-sweet sister Explorer, who currently holds the title. All of which means that Splendor will be a marvellous place, a discreet and tasteful pleasure palace to be enjoyed—not only ‘luxury perfected’ but having that exclusive maiden-voyage party atmosphere as everybody on board—passengers, crew, owners and invited guests—joins in celebrating Splendor’s launch. After all, it is not every day that a multi-million-pound luxury ship takes to the water for the first time, and on this maiden voyage she will create a ripple of excitement everywhere she sails.
The inaugural itinerary begins on Friday, February o6, embarking at Barcelona, Spain: Feb 07, Cruising the Mediterranean; Feb 08, Seville (Cadiz), Spain; Feb 09, Cruising the Atlantic Ocean; Feb 10, Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal; Feb 11-15, Cruising the Atlantic Ocean; Feb 16, King’s Wharf, Bermuda (two days); Feb 18-19, Cruising the Atlantic Ocean; Feb 20, Miami, Florida, USA. Regent will make sure that the 29 complimentary port excursions are a fitting extension of Splendor’s onboard pleasures. At each port of call you can partake in as many of the shore excursions as you wish—and have energy for!—among the variety of visits and events, historic insights, entertainment, wine and food tastings, dining, dancing and discovery.
Take, for example, your first port of call, Spain’s Cádiz (for Seville). You can really get under the skin of Cádiz, Andalusia’s world-renowned capital in this its carnival month, with its music and palm trees, its gracious squares, flower-filled parks, red-tiled buildings and bustling street markets. Beyond Cádiz you can see beautiful, vibrant Seville, the famous Alcazar, majestic Seville Cathedral, Giralda Tower and more. Or take a trip to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, home to the majestic Andalusian horses, see the horses in training, perhaps also visiting the bull and horse breeding studs. Don’t miss the evening flamenco show, Jerez wine and tapas tastings, or the 16th-century Andalusian palace where parts of ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ were filmed.
As dawn breaks, Splendor will sail into Funchal Harbour on the island of Madeira for the first time. Described as the ‘Island of Eternal Spring’, Madeira’s climate and volcanic soil combine to produce an abundance of sub-tropical flora and this, with the rugged landscape, scenic fishing villages and magnificent vistas make it a serene and lovely place in which to relax and escape the British winter. See the famous Botanical Garden, ride the cable car, explore the wealth of history—and enjoy tastings of the exceptional varieties of Madeira wines.
It is now that the real transatlantic crossing begins, and shipboard life aboard Splendor comes into its own. This is the time to fully appreciate your luxurious suite with its private balcony, and all the extra details which her marine designers say have perfected the Explorer class as the ultimate luxury vessel. And of course it’s the time to luxuriate in spa and sauna, pools and gym, sports courts and galleries, to drink good wine, dine on gourmet food, see the shows, play games, enjoy the music and dance the night away under the stars as she makes her way to Bermuda, remembering that, as you sail through February 14 you will celebrate the Feast of St Valentine.
So if it is your pleasure to toast the day with a glass of chilled Champagne with canapés on your private balcony, consider it done: they will arrive at the appropriate moment. Whole Maine lobster and Alaskan king crabs? Turbot and dry aged Chateaubriand steak? Fresh truffles and foie gras? Caviar with your scrambled eggs? All are yours for the ordering. Private dinner for two in your suite overlooking the panoramic ocean and starlit sky? Certainly: at any time of night. Roulette? The casino is open for play. Whisky and cigar? Enjoy the Connoisseur Club. Golf? Bocce? Tennis? Cabaret? The latest book or film? Swimming? Sunbathing, iced cocktail to hand?
All are at your disposal—and there is no need to worry about carrying a wallet on board ship; it is all taken care of. Fares include all drinks, meals and speciality restaurants, excellent wines and premium spirits; return flights and transfers; unlimited shore excursions (which, with other cruise lines really add to the costs); all onboard activities including lectures, fitness programmes and entertainment; 24-hour room service and in-suite dining; free Wifi, films and music; and all gratuities. And return flights are Business Class for higher suites—again, all included.
After five days at sea, Splendor will arrive for the first time in Bermuda. When this lovely ship slips into sight of this tiny, sun-blessed island you will see how beautifully Bermuda balances on two circles of extinct volcanoes, fringed by those world-famous rose-pink-hued, soft-sand beaches. Though but two miles wide and 20 miles long, it is in fact about 180 small, picturesque islands linked by bridges. The town of St George is the oldest English speaking colonial town in existence. Bermuda secured paradise status in the 17th century and has no need to make any changes: it has a languid charm and beauty, and a way of life that is elegantly distinct from that of any of its Caribbean neighbours—here you will experience a little piece of an older, gentler Britain in the semi-tropical mid-Atlantic.
As with its two volcanoes, Bermuda effortlessly combines two Empires: pre-war Britishness and gentle, upscale, latter-day Americanism. HM The Queen’s birthday and Remembrance Day are public holidays. The streets are clean, litter-free. You might catch sight of a British bobby or a NYPD cop. You will certainly post your cards in a red British postbox. Bermuda is a sight to see, and you will have two days to experience its laid-back charm, to stroll along the famous pink sand beaches, or immerse yourself in maritime history—the Royal Naval Dockyard was built for the British Navy as a base between Halifax and the West Indies. Cruise the turquoise Bermudan waters in either a glass-bottom boat for the scintillating colours of the marine life, or a larger boat for a cruise along the pink-sand shores for the sights of Bermuda and the warmth of the sun.
Two more days at sea and you will sail with great fanfare into Miami under the sunny Florida skies. There is no doubting the welcome which Splendor will attract as she reaches America for the first time. This cosmopolitan city, ‘Gateway to the Americas’, with its sun- and celebrity-drenched South Beach, will be alive to her arrival and the Press will be out in force!
Disembarking Splendor for the final time, you may of course opt to stay on in Miami and absorb its cosmopolitan life, or fly on to other parts of the Americas, or fly home—knowing that you have shared a unique experience: the first of Seven Seas Splendor’s many voyages across the world.
