And there are opportunities to enjoy whale and bird watching and local food and drink, with rum and chocolate tastings and cookery classes among a collection of up to 83 free shore excursions.
We are delighted that our Members can enjoy this 10-night, 12-day, six-star cruise from Barbados aboard the luxurious and spacious 245-suite Regent Seven Seas Navigator, all at an exclusive advantageous price starting at £3,969 per person for a luxurious Deluxe Veranda Suite and moving on to £5,079 per person for a Penthouse Suite with butler and extra five-star hotel stay—huge, web-beating savings which are available only to our Members.
This is the Caribbean at its best—and at its most pristine. The tropical isles we shall visit are the sun-kissed paradise islands of our winter dreams—Barbados, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica, Antigua, St Barts, Guadeloupe, Martinique and St Lucia—all the beauties of the French and British colonial islands.
And as this cruise is with Regent Seven Seas we shall travel with all the luxuries of a five-star luxury hotel—this is The Savoy afloat. Do you like the idea of a £200 dinner included in the price of your ticket? Fine food is standard within all five restaurants (think fresh caviar, foie gras, truffles, lobster, Alaskan crab, rib-eye steak and filet mignon, and whatever else you enjoy, all included and served on fine china), with matching Champagnes and wines, premium spirits and perfectly shaken cocktails.
Think, too, of the elegant, airy spaciousness aboard ship and within your private suite and balcony—upgraded twice from the suite which you book—with 24-hour room-service and a class of attentiveness which means they know who you are, they know your preferences and they never say ‘No’. The Navigator is a spacious ship—237ft in length with only 245 suites and a high guest:staff ratio of 1 to 1.42. No crowds anywhere, not at the pool, the restaurants or decks, the spa, the casino, the lecture theatre and library. It is quiet, elegant, and totally tranquil in experience—the perfect relaxed ambience in which to enjoy a cruise such as this—the Caribbean is no place to feel pressure!
Added to which are the free international flights and top-class, multiple, complimentary shore excursions known for their exceptional quality—83 excursions on this cruise, including swimming and snorkelling safaris and special beach visits, catamaran sailings and whale watching, tropical garden visits, Nature trips and fascinating historical sights, following in the footsteps of the British and French colonials—plus, naturally, rum and chocolate tastings!
This fabulous 10-night ‘Barbados in Bliss’ itinerary starts in style on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, with your flight to Barbados, arriving the same day. You’ll transfer to the luxurious Seven Seas Navigator to check-in to your chosen suite and immediately start to enjoy life on board. From then on, your ports of call are: Wed, Feb 16, Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago; Thurs, Feb 17, St George’s, Grenada; Fri, Feb 18, Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines; Sat, Feb 19, Roseau, Dominica; Sun, Feb 20, St John’s, Antigua; Mon, Feb 21, Gustavia, St Barts; Tues, Feb 22, Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe; Wed, Feb 23, Fort-de-France, Martinique; Thurs, Feb 24, Castries, St Lucia; Fri, Feb 25, Bridgetown, Barbados, for your return flight to the UK.
From Barbados, having been wined and dined aboard Navigator overnight, you’ll arrive in exhilarating, cosmopolitan, tropical Port of Spain on the island of Trinidad. Explore The Savannah, a vast 260-acre park and its orchid house and relax with a chilled fresh coconut. Visit the National Museum and Art Gallery, The Red House and The Magnificent Seven—a row of beautifully restored mansions dating from the Colonial era. Admire the clock tower in the Queen’s Royal College, or head to Frederick Street to discover fabulous restaurants, colourful art galleries and boutiques. Or take a scenic island drive to where the earth bubbles, to rainforest trails, tropical gardens, villages, and Trinidad’s best beaches, never-ending palm-fringed bays—and of course a rum distillery! Then it’s back to your luxurious suite on Navigator to while away a warm, tropical evening of wining, dining and entertainment under the Caribbean stars. What bliss!
After a luxurious night aboard Navigator you’ll awake to see the alluring Spice Island of Grenada, with its sun-blessed beaches, lush forests and plunging waterfalls. The capital, St George’s, is the prettiest in the Caribbean, perfect for strolling—and you may opt to enjoy a scenic tour or a spice tour—this is the world’s nutmeg island, after all. Grenada’s natural tour de force is the Grand Etang National Park, which encompasses natural beauties including a water-filled volcanic crater at 1,900ft. Legend has it that the lake is bottomless—but few feel the urge to swim there! Instead you may wish to stroll along Grand Anse, several miles of perfect white sand fringed with palms and hibiscus trees.
And then it’s on into the tropical night, sailing beneath the Caribbean stars to the incredible blue waters of St Vincent and the Grenadines. An area of time-warped quaintness, the capital Kingstown is the heart of the nation, known as the city of arches’—a delight to explore, with no neon lights, no high-rise buildings, no traffic jams, crowds nor noise. Explore the town at your leisure, but this is an island of farmers, who tend the rich red soil, so you can head out around the island to see the landscape, the crops and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches—including Princess Margaret Beach, this being the nearest island to the Princess’s Caribbean haven, Mustique. Make time to glimpse the St Vincent parrothiging in the rainsofrest, to visit the oldest botanic gardens in the western hemisphere and feel the fresh sea breeze on your face in a catamaran sailing trip before returning to your suite aboard Navigator for an evening of fine wine and gourmet cuisine.
Dawn breaks to the vision of Dominica’s magnificent ‘Nature Island’, a towering volcanic landscape of the rugged unspoilt natural world. Here are rushing rivers, dramatic falls, bird-filled rainforests, a lake of boiling water, smouldering volcanic peaks and lovingly tended gardens rich in orchids, Christmas candles, hibiscus and breadfruits. It shows why the Caribbean is about so much more than beaches. From 4×4 safaris to river tubing, snorkelling and wildlife safaris, the range of excursion options covers the very best of the island’s countryside, culture, cuisine and coast.
With a white-sand beach for every day of the year, the heart-shaped island of Antigua is a haven for sun-seekers and sailors. There’s plenty of British history to discover here, too, including Nelson’s Dockyard and English Harbour. We may take a trip to Shirley Heights and Clarence House—or simply enjoy a catamaran cruise with Champagne and lobsters, enjoy the island’s finest rums, or swim with stingrays. All these, plus cooking classes and photography excursions, will introduce us to the very best of Antgua before we return to the comforts of our suite on Voyager for a sundowner and an evening of fine food and wine and entertainment as she sails on to St Barts.
Ultra-chic St Barts is a Caribbean St Tropez with magnificent yachts in the bays and Parisian chefs in the restaurants. We shall sail into the bay at picturesque Gustavia, a Gallic town filled with Parisian fashions, from Versace to Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Enjoy it all at your leisure with a stroll at your own pace, or take a self-drive all-terrain vehicle. The best of the plentiful beaches are Colombier, Flamands, Lorient and St Jean.
Next morning we shall sail into the bay at Point-à-Pitre, unofficial capital of the French island Guadeloupe, ‘Land of Beautiful Waters’, discovered and named by Christopher Columbus. This island of glorious white-sand beaches and mountain forests was named by Jacques-Yves Cousteau as one of the best dive sites in the world, and we can see these stunning coral reefs for ourselves. So too we can explore mangrove-fringed shorelines, home to pelicans and iguanas the island’s incredible natural world. And for the unusual and historic, the island hosts one of the Caribbean’s largest collection of pre-Columbian antiquities.
At dawn the following day we shall be in sight of the elegant Caribbean’s island of Martinique, a small piece of France transported to the tropics. This mountainous island, famous for its exotic flowers, exudes a sophistication all its own, from black and white sand beaches to rainforests, and forts and cathedrals which tell of the island’s Gallic history. Explore Martinique’s marine wildlife with a snorkelling trip to see the brightly coloured fish and sea turtles. Or visit an intriguing site: the Caribbean’s version of Pompeii.
Our last full day will be spent on the luxuriant tropical island of St Lucia, where sandy coves explode from crystalline waters, all overlooked by the famous peaks of the Pitons. Fought over for two centuriews, this is a Nature lovers’ island, offering beach safaris and zip-line adventures, underwater activities and more—not least a sea trek where you’ll don a diving helmet to stroll along the sea bed for a spectacular view of the marine life without even getting your head wet. Then it’s back to Navigator for all the comforts of your six-star ship as she sails into the warm Caribbean night on her way back to Bridgetown, Barbados.
Next day, it’s time to disembark in Bridgetown, transfer to the airport and board your overnight flight back to the UK. Or you can extend your stay in Barbados with a few nights at a luxury resort, all at exclusive CountryClubuk Members’ rates—the perfect ending to a perfect holiday.
