Exquisite Van Gogh Sunflowers in pure silk chiffon from the new Fine Art Collection

£39.00

Fine art and fashion combine in this elegant sheer silk chiffon stole depicting Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’. Not only does it represent great art—you can even see the brushstrokes, so high is the quality—it happens to epitomise the gorgeous new summer colours for 2022. It transforms an outfit in an instant, adding elegance, colour and style for nights at the opera or ballet, gallery openings, parties, lunches and dinners—there is hardly an event where it won’t look good and be a favourite for years to come.

Even in his lifetime Van Gogh knew that ‘Sunflowers’ was important. As he told his brother Theo, while other artists were known for painting peonies and hollyhocks, ‘the sunflower is mine’. ‘Sunflowers’ is in fact a series of four. This the National Gallery version—the world’s most famous—was painted in Arles in August 1888, when Van Gogh was trying to tempt Paul Gaugin to visit him—the painting destined to decorate Gaugin’s bedroom wall. Gaugin was so captivated by it that he asked Van Gogh to give it to him. It’s a painting which attracts all who see it.

Part of the Fine Art Silk Stoles Collection, this lovely silk stole is beautifully made, with hand-rolled hems. It is long enough at 180cm by 55cm (5ft 11in by 1ft 9in) to drape as a summer evening stole, and the silk chiffon is fine enough to fold to add a touch of colour without bulk. It makes a beautiful and discerning gift.
